Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

Awesome. I'll chat with them again then. Appreciate it!
I would get that on writing if I were you. I am in the same dilemma as you and I have chatted with both regular as well as T-Force reps. They both confirmed that you will still get the credits, even if you pay off the phone. However, once you used the phone as a trade-in, then the previous promo is over and you will lose the credits. Again I would confirm with your rep and get it in writing because both of my reps double and triple check it and they both give the same answer. Mine is the Pixel 3a XL from last T-Mobile deal.

I was also told that I wouldn't lose the credits. The rule is that you only lose the credits if you close a line. It made some sense, and it should be enough to fight with them for the next couple years trying to recoup the money Wave

Confirmed the pre-order and $500 off works for 55 plan (on it). I'm assuming the type 3 code works as well... I got the code directly from a T-Force member who gave it to me after looking at my account.
rep, thanks.. did u order online? or go to corporate store? T-Force via FB or Twitter? i tried Twitter and no luck yet. TIA

Hello, I hope you're well.

I posted a guide 4 days ago when this thread was still young and before the promotion went live. I am still seeing confusion and questions, so I am reposting it now and hopefully it isn't seen as spam.

Thanks for putting this together! Quick question, but now I plan to go a different route with adding a line to get a free S20 FE. I believe this still works as bill credits over 2 years. My question is if I am getting the phone for free for adding a line, will I be able to get the Hookup code and be able to make $200?

I haven't looked at that promotion at all, so I don't think I'm in a good place to answer that question, unfortunately. Hopefully, someone else can help you.

Take care,

FYI, I see one of two FE EIPs on my EIP status page [t-mobile.com]. It says SHIPPED and even has the IMEI # for that phone. I just registered the hookup type 3 and it went through no problem

I took advantage of the 50% off for the A71 5G that's stackable with the free line from last week. If I returned that can I take advantage of the BOGO where you add a line instead use my free line from last week? Or they will decline that? The representative I'm talking to, I don't trust saying it's okay lol

Your guide is very helpful TofuVic. I just feel that you have more than enough thumbs up to last a life time and probably don't value them as much, so I didn't give any. Sorry if I'm wrong. But yes, I used your other post as my guide. Thank you, very appreciated as you often are! </no sarcasm, real shît> hug

Yes, free after 24 bill credits, if you add a line.

IMO yes. I would likely not upgrade from the S10 and above. But anything lower, go for it

I still have a question. Once I check if the code is valid, where do I enter it? There's no other instruction or proceed on the page.

I definitely think it is and am doing it for my significant other. To me, everything is an improvement except maybe the three following things:
  • S20 FE does not have a headphone jack
  • The front screen's glass is lower quality:
    • S9: Gorilla Glass 5
    • S20 FE: Gorilla Glass 3
  • Physical device changes:
    • S9: 5.81 x 2.7 x 0.33 inches; 5.75 oz
    • S20 FE: 6.29 x 2.93 x 0.33 inches; 6.70 oz
One thing to keep in mind is that phones deteriorate with usage, so if your S9 is somewhat old, it may be worthwhile to upgrade to a newer device.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Once the phone is delivered, go to https://insider.t-mobile.com and follow the instructions, which include entering the Hookup code and the phone's IMEI.

For more information, check out the guide I linked to in this post. (I figured I'll link you after seeing that your signature is, "A little knowledge is all you need... to start learning more!")

I hope this helps,
