Chase Rewards - Select Gift Cards On Sale with Reward Points YMMV

Hi All,

Note disclosure: sorry, in a rush so please excuse any grammatical errors or any areas where I lack additional explanation. I also did a quick search and I didnt see it posted.

Within Chase Rewards (I have Chase Freedom and I dont know if it applies to all Chase cards, thus, YMMV), they have several gift cards that are currently on sale with points for essentially 10% off.

I understand some of these discounted gift cards can be purchased from time to time on various websites so it's not the slickest of slickdeals but if you needed it now and have points, it's a nice alternative:

Grubhub
Wayfair
Via Happy Student Card (Bed Bath Beyond, World Market, Buffalo Wild Wing, Ulta, Foot Locker, American Eagle, Aerie, Express)
Via Happy Rewards (Sephora, Regal, Barnes & Noble, Dave & Buster, American Eagle, UnderArmour)

If you have Chase Sapphire you're better off spending the points on travel. 25% bonus for Preferred cards, 50% Bonus for Reserve cards. Not a bad deal if you've only got the other Chase cards though.

i would say use them to pay your self back for eligible purchases... it give 50% more value to the points... like getting a $150 gift card for $100....

I have Chase too so this is helpful but Discover has this all the time, just bought $300 worth gift cards at a 10% discount.

Travel is typically the best value per point, either through travel portal or transfer to certain partners.

I was able to get $5000 in flights with 180k points last year on a trip to Japan, pretty good value IMO.

Better when it's HD GCs, since those are only discounted once or twice a year. Lowe's is always 10% off.
