These official TaylorMade practice golf balls deliver the same performance features as their full-priced counterparts, but come stamped with PRACTICE on the side and are packaged in plastic bags. -slickdewmaster

New TP5 Pix balls work with the word "practice" stamped on them. They are the same as normal TP5 Pix but just have "practice" on the balls.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Good deal and true statement. Perfectly legal to play these balls and no difference from non practice balls. I'd recommend getting a stencil and print something over the practice stamp though as playing partners get confused about why you're playing a "practice" ball.

great price on high-end 5 piece balls

love that they say "practice" too... I can say I am practicing for The Masters.

Cheers

Other variants are the same price.

Nice deal on these. Usually around $40 without the practice stamp. For those wondering, these are marked practice due to cosmetic blemishes (but do not have structural defects). Usually a smeared stamp or ink drip.

These are stamped for driving ranges at higher end courses. No difference from new, but if you happen to play at a course that uses these on their driving range, you may get some side eye.

Taylormade is one of the few companies for which practice balls are probably pretty reliable. Since their covers and the cores are done in different facilities, any minor defects in the covers are not likely to also represent quality control issues in the core which would be more concerning.

I need a ball that will drive straight due to my slightly off mechanics. The war birds used to really go straight for me. Seems like the pro v 1's slice for me. Maybe I'm crazy- but how are these balls and is there legitimacy in my theory?

From what I've read, I don't think there is truth to that. Playing a premium ball is always better than not; however, as a higher handicapper you may not see the benefit from added spin on approach shots and around the green. Nevertheless, there shouldn't be a higher degree of slice for a premium ball vs 2-piece ball. Check out mygolfspy's review on balls, very insightful: https://mygolfspy.com/most-wanted-golf-ball/

Straight from TaylorMade's website
"TP5/TP5x Practice balls are USGA conforming products that differ only due to a cosmetic blemish such as paint, ink or registration of stamping. The golf balls all have "Practice" stamped on the side but do not have any construction or performance deficiencies."
