Released in 2017. I would go with something more recent.

Probably worth waiting for prime day to see what deals there are on mesh systems

The M9's sell at Costco regularly for $199. Even though they are better, they still aren't meeting my needs and I think I'm sending them back.

I get about 350Mbps per WiFi device. I have 6 of these M5's joined with a gigabit switch. They work so well that I've helped several friends do the same after they saw how well mine works.
How you connected 6 to switch?

After how unreliable my M9's were with constant dropped/glitchy connections (even when router was in the same room), and a total inability to get support from TPLink, I'm done with them.

Fun fact: the Deco app will always say your firmware is up to date no matter how many versions behind you are; the ability to update firmware thru the app is broken and has been for over a year.
Strange, I get updates about every quarter.

By any chance, did someone checked whether this can be in fact x20 mesh?

Wire each one with its own CAT-6 cable to a gigabit switch. In my case I also have several hard-wired devices so I use a 24-port switch. One of the pods (the "main") will need to have the cable from the modem and then the other port to the switch. All the rest just need 1 wire between the pod and switch for them all to talk across the same backplane.

Compare to nokia beacon 1 that was on front page?
I was wondering if anyone can comment on this also, comparing this to a recent nokia beacon 1 (3 piece) deal? : https://slickdeals.net/f/14366021-nokia-wifi-beacon-1-high-performance-whole-home-wifi-mesh-system-replaces-your-existing-router-3-pack-138-12

Our house is barely 2k feet so we don't need the mesh to cover area, but we have 46 devices connected. Would a mesh help? Our netgear hates assigning IPs to our TP link light switches so I wonder if upgrading to this would help keep them connected?
If you use the Ethernet backhaul, you could use a couple/few of these pods to help divide up how many devices each pod handles and should help overall. Divide and conquer...

Anyone using these without a wired backhaul? Working good/bad/decent?
My experience was not great without Ethernet backhaul for a larger house. I had 3 M5's and was having major issues during video conference from my basement office, bought an additional 3 to see if would help and no improvement. I upgraded to M9's and saw major improvement in consistency and moderate improvements with speed. If I can get wires through the house, that would likely be best but probably cost a ton.

Only way to do so is to order it and check. I did and it'll be here tomorrow. I'll update here once I get it.

I had the same issue. I had to disable fast roaming. Excellent after that.
Same here.

I had these for a short time and ended up getting rid of them. Got so tired of the issues when wandering around the house and the constant drop between nodes. I even had it setup with wired back haul to hopefully improve performance....but no good.
I ended up getting the TPLink tri-band from Costco when they had it on sale. Did a little changing of things to get it more centrally located in the house (~2100 sq ft multi-level). Doing that greatly improved everything. I can wander the entire house without dropping (even outside). Plenty of bandwidth as we have run three online sessions (1 Teams and 2 Google Meets) at the same time.
Not sure if it was just my configuration, but family is much happier worth single higher performance router. Sometimes less equipment is better in the long run.

Can you be more specific regarding the M9's?

My router has lately been messing up and with myself and the Mrs working from home and the kids doing "distance learning" have been thinking of getting a new mesh system but it seems like it's a lot more complicated from back in the day when a Linksys WRT54GL was a good solution ( that thing almost NEVER had an issue) and I honestly knew WTH I was talking about. We stream all our TV but don't have 10 devices on at once (5 would be the most for us).

I currently have some TP-Link ethernet over power adapters and they work well to get internet to the other side of the house (where it's outputted to a Linksys router that still works well) but we've got a 3,000 sq ft ranch house and need internet throughout, even in to the garage where we have some connected devices (so that's like another 1,000 sq ft). I'm wondering if a 3-pk is even enough as I recall claims of 200 ft but throw in a wall or two and it's like 50 ft.

Costco has the Google nest 4-pk or Linksys Velop for $400 but that seems like a lot compared to the 3-pk M9 from Costco for $200 (we only have 2 routers currently but there are definitely some "not so great zones"). I don't need all the home automation crap, I just need consistent wifi throughout my house so I can access the internet and ideally print from anywhere (as currently I can only print when on one wifi connection). What's the best (coverage/cost effective) solution? Get the M9 TP-Link from Costco for $200 and if I decide I need it get an additional M9 (although it doesn't seem like I can buy just 1 anywhere for a reasonable amount of $)?

I do move through the house a lot, and frankly would more if I could, so I don't want to drop as I walk through zones (which admittedly is an issue now as I have to drop everything and reconnect from the other router on the other side depending on where I am). I did once, a long time ago, have a portable TP-Link router for use when I traveled a lot and didn't want to pay ridiculous hotel fees of $20 per device per F'ing night (which thankfully seem to long be over), but their customer service did seem to majorly suck as I had a couple issues. I'm fairly competent, well at least as of 8-10 years ago, but if there is an issue I would like to get some help from someone who can hopefully provide it.

Just want something that works well for a good price that will allow some seamless mobility and the support to back it up should I need help.
