The remodeling industry is seeing a big trend towards customizing home offices and home gyms. Many home gyms are having carpet tiles installed with a rubber carpet tile cushion under it, made by Leggett and called Tred-Mor carpet tile cushion. Should check it out. If you tear or damage the carpet, you replace that small, damaged carpet tile only, and the commercial rubber pad under it is great for the equipment.
Thanks for the tip!

Just ask a few of your neighbors to share the cost, get one and leave it in the backyard. Maybe build a mini gym if you are handy.

No, but over 80lb. I do it with a single cable. Never seen it done with two crossover cables.
With most home functional trainers, it includes a bar that will connect to both sides of the cable, which will then give you the combined resistance of 165lbs (give or take).

Similarly, you can use a combination of chains and carabiners to connect various accessories to utilize both cables. Takes a little getting used to, but it'll get the job done for a home gym.

With that said, best of all worlds is to have a functional trainer AND a squat rack/Bench. You'll pretty much cover just about everything you need in gym.

I got this a few months ago. It was originally $1799+tax but the price dropped a few weeks ago. Costco/Citi gave me the credit for the difference.

As for the machine. I love it. It's probably the machine I missed the most when I stopped going to the gym after Covid hit. I prefer bodybuilding/physique volume workouts over strength/powerlifting programs. Aesthetics is my goal. The amount of different exercises and muscle groups you can hit with cables is great for those chasing the pump. The bench is low but I found the quality/durability to be higher than any sub $200 amazon bench I have tried. As others have said the weight on some exercises is easily maxed out for intermediate and advanced lifters. I am a little bummed to read that they don't sell addon weight for this model.
How easy is it maxed out. Is it to the point that your not getting much out of the exercise? Which exercises have you noticed it on. Some, most, or all.

I'm really, really tempted. But I want to know if it is worth pulling the trigger.

Yes, I do. I don't try to max out, but I can push a lot of weight just doing reps. I want to make sure that I get a useful amount of resistance out of it. No two manufacturers gym is exactly the same. So it can be hard to tell how the plates lead to actual resistance. I've been climbing the walls since covid. I know it's Costco, but this would be a nightmare to return

You're not really helping others help you when you don't even give an idea of the amount of weight you're used to lifting. No one can tell you what to expect for maxing out, if no one knows what you're doing.

These things are essentially about 80lbs per side. Do you normally lift more than 80lbs per arm, or a combined resistance of 160lbs for curls, or pull downs? If not, then you'll get your resistance from this, in a variety of exercises.

Each machine is different even for the same manufacturer. For instance, on the lower hammer strength chest press I would do between 115-1125 per arm for 3 sets of 10. On the hammer strength upper chest press I would do 135 per arm. I will usually do about 150 on a tricep extension pulldown. Does that give a relative idea?

So I am just really trying to get an idea because you can't add more weight to this unit. Is it worth purchasing it or should I skip this deal.

Depending on the exercise. I max out many of the back pulling movements. Lat pulldowns, rows and even some tricep exercises. I am just creative and use those exercises as higher rep or extra volume work.

A few other things about this rig. The pull-up bar is great and fits me perfectly (5'11"). As for accessories, it only comes with a long ass EZ curl bar(need to use hooks on both cables), a decent rope, 2 good D handles and an oddball pull-up wieght belt. The EZ curl bar is good but since it's so long it limits your range of movement (that's what she said). I bought a shorter ez curl bar that only uses one cable. I also bought a few leg cuff/anchors for my wife to do her booty/leg exercises with (they actually work pretty well).

All in all I would definitely get it again even.

This machine has 165lb on each side. For those that are wondering about this machine, there's a facebook group called "Home Gym Community" that has nearly 35k members of which this brand and specific function trainer has had nothing but positive reviews.

Are you absolutely sure you're doing 115+ per arm? Because most pulley systems are halved in the actual resistance. I know this for a fact because I actually used a hanging weight scale to measure resistance on the functional trainer that I have, which is nearly identical to this one except mine expanded to 200lbs each stack, which comes out to be about 100lbs resistance each side.

So you want to make sure you're not, in actuality, pushing only half the amount that it says on the machine you've used before.

Given that this system is also halved, if you're truly lifting more than 115lbs per arm, then you won't get anything out of this. I'd also expect you to be a power lifter, in which case, these machines won't have much use for you in the long run.

It's a pulley system identical to what I have. It's not true 165lbs resistance per side. It's only half that. You can still do plenty with 80lbs per side, but don't go in expecting you're really lifting 165lbs per arm if you can pull the whole stack...

But these are great machines for a full workout. Not saying it's not. Just need to be real with the actual resistance.

But that 165 is not the full resistance you actually feel. Pay attention! We're trying to help people out by describing exactly what this can and cannot do for people at different levels.
