Sennheiser has MD421-II microphones for sale for $199 at quite a few retailers. They are typically about $360-$400 new. It is a high sound pressure level dynamic microphone. They are a good choice for guitar cabinets, bass amps, drums, vocals, group vocals and horns.

    Depends on how much quality you want. $99 Rode podmic, Shure sm57/58. Sm57 with a popfilter sounds close to a $400 dollar Shure sm7b. All will need an audio interface. Focusrite 2i2 or Behringer umc202hd If you have a sound treated room I cheaper ok mic would be an audio technica AT2020/2035. If you got a lot of keyboard sounds going or kids screaming in the background or loud computer or even just noise in general. I would not get a condensor mic like the AT2020 because it will definitely pick up that sound.

    before I started I wanted to spend less than $100 total. I ended up spending 200 for a quality setup that im much happier with. I wanted clear audio for Discord and game chat as well as Zoom. I don't make music or sing. a Blue Yeti or AT2020USB was my choice until I realized my keyboard will pickup the sounds from my keyboard or the gardener that comes by everytime im on a zoom meeting. I decided to get a dynamic microphone that picks up sound in a single direction( kinda like a shotgun mic if you will). and a interface cheap enough to power it. extremely happy with what I have.

    current setup is a Shure sm57 with a popfilter and a behringer umc202hd. oh yeah the sm57 is the official mic for presidents for decades.

    This would be extreme overkill for communication purposes. You'd be fine with a yeti or At2020.

    I have an AT2035 I was looking to upgrade for vocals. This is a totally different type of mic (dynamic vs condenser) so I'll have to look into whether this is worth getting. I was also looking at the Stellar X2 which is the same price.

    I was holding out for a SM7B with CL1 (or the like) bundle deal to pop up again...but it's been years since that deal happened lol, so this will have to do in the interim. For $200+ no tax at Adorama this is a no brainer for me. Aftermarket I'll probably make a profit if I don't like it.

    I was happy to see this deal come along because I've been wanting to use one for recording guitar amps. I think it will work really well along with a Shure SM57 or a Sennheiser e906.

    From what I read it works great with the SM57 (which I also plan to pair it with). Especially good for aggressive styles like rock and metal Punk

    Is this mic good for podcasting and/or zoom calls? I like that it can be used for guitar/piano so the versatility is nice but the primary use would be for those other purposes. TIA to anyone who can provide some context

    I bought this on Amazon , just in case I need to do an easy return, how are these for vocals for rapping? I noticed that it's highly popular for drums and amps, just curious if anyone own these and would recommend it for rapping? I would assume it's great since it's a standard in the entertainment industry?

    As of right now ,I have some Chinese clone's of a high end microphone which works well, paid $54 but willing to upgrade...

    If I were still micing amps rather than using cab sims, I'd be ALL over this. Still tempting regardless.

    reviews i've seen say there's a high presence peak .. making voices very siblant/harsh and potential highhat bleed very apparent if micing toms etc . this is the mk2 and the original seems to be much preferred by everyone who's tried both.
