Everyone keeps commenting about HDMI 2.1 because it's the new technology in the next generation of consoles but the actual real world use of this technology and gaming is years away. If you have any experience with PC gaming and see that not even the highest level Nvidia 2000 series GPUs can sustain a frame rate of 4K 120 there is absolutely no way consoles will be hitting that anytime soon and even then not consistently. The truth of the matter is in my opinion the Sony A8H will provide the best overall picture quality right here and now when you take into account upscaling of content. Gaming features that we won't see until a few years from now shouldn't be the determining factor right now. Just my two cents.
The Sony will have better color reproduction, hands down. I recently compared side by side and the TCL went back immediately.
Thank you! The 75 is coming home! I am a sony fan, really was hesitant on a TCL just because I think Sony makes a better product in terms of TVS overall. And the XBR is never any funny business I have found.
If I was considering either the CX or A8H (not a big gamer) should I jump on this or wait for a similar deal from Greentoe for roughly the same price without sales tax? Not in any rush so just curious if my waiting is a fools game.

Myself like many have been debating the same thing SONY A8H VS LG CX
to sum it up simply, if you wanna game i'd say even just casually or at all you should just go CX.
If you just want something you can watch movies on go A8H.
The picture difference is pretty negligible and you may never notice without a side by side comparison (unless you're that hardcore). HDMI 2.1 is a gaming thing so if your not gaming the loss of this means nothing to you.
I game 99.9% on my PC and i will likely never plug a CX into my computer as a monitor and when i do buy a console its usually just the result of me deluding myself into thinking i'll play it only to have it live its life with <10 hours played on it. Even then i was pretty adamantly leaning LG CX before this deal purely because the picture difference is SO MINIMAL that i might as well have that gaming option at a lower price.
I think the A8H is about having that peace of mind that you bought the best movie experience you could in your price/size range and that's a good feeling to have.
The only other things that make me lean A8H over CX are just my personal opinion but may be worth mentioning.
I dont like the magic remote LG has, i dont like the Motion control concept and feel it should've died off with the wii
And even though the thin nature of the LG CX looks sleek it makes me incredibly nervous. I've even seen videos of how it has some "bend" to it when tilting it on a wall mount or handling.
Now ofcourse remote is a matter of preference and i dont personally move my TV once its mounted but they were things that i had to think about.

Have you done comparisons? I'm considering them both. How is CX better or worse compared to A8H? I'm going to use my TV for both gaming and movies.

Do you think A8H is better than CX? The latter has better specs with HDMI 2.1 support
I do think the A8H is a better TV than the CX. I only bought the CX because of the price point at the time. People try and sell the CX on the HDMI 2.1 ports, but in reality, how much benefit will that really bring me on a Xbox 1X which I use now, and will probably keep till the mid cycle refresh of the Xbox Series X. The A8H would have fit my needs to run my Xbox games i play right now, it has better upscaling and does a better job for movie watching.
Even if the A8H cant run 4k@120, how many game developers are going to optimize their games to support that? We only see a handful supporting 4k@60 which the A8H supports just fine. I really think 4k@60 on gaming consoles (which I play) will be the most mainstream format for the next years to come. Ill worry about 4k@120 when I see better adoption rates, but for now I don't see that happening in the near future.
What's wrong with the X900H? It's a hell of an amazing picture with FALD and has gotten great reviews, especially for the price. Certainly not OLED quality but very very good nonetheless.
I for some reason thought it was OLED at first sight. Then I read it again. I never intended to say SONY X900H sucks.
Only two small hesitations... any chance Costco will price match the 65" OLED? I've always found B&M easier to deal with when buying large electronics.
And also this price seems like an all time low (and even 200-300 cheaper than the CX); any chance there will be even cheaper with black friday just around the corner?
You won't need to price match. Sony controls the prices, and they will be the same at all authorized dealers. The only bonus you get from this deal is the extra warranty.

I'm not an expert, but isn't VRR (variable refresh rate) a big selling point of HDMI 2.1? Next gen consoles should be using that day 1, I think? I know on the PC side Gsync / Freesync can make a huge difference in experience.
Sony generally has better upscaling for content, particularly SD content - whether you would notice depends on how close to the TV you sit.
LG is generally better for gaming.
For what it's worth, I have a B7 and absolutely love it, and the remote and LG WebOS interface are both great. My only complaints are that there's some vertical banding visible in certain scenes (the ones notorious for illustrating vertical banding issues) and that it doesn't have eARC (which was only recently added as part of HDMI 2.1).
Thanks as well. I bought the B9 last year, and have been meaning to set it up, but have been distracted catching up on all my old shows on my old KS8000.
Hopefully it makes an excellent gaming monitor, whenever I can get my hands on an RTX 3080.
Google Sony TV failure after one year and you will see lots of complaints of failures. A lot of people are saying anything after one year on Sony TV are borrowed times. I experience this. Originally purchased a 75" sony xbr75x940D right before the Eagles Super Bowl in 2018 and the TV just failed last month September 2020. ~$3800 down the drain. The tv warranty was only one year so Sony refused to fix/replace it. Sony authorized retailer wanted ~900 to fix the tv. Because of this experience Sony TV are now banned in my house. I personally never had a tv failed before until this.

So the A8H does 4k 60hz, and 1440p 120hz? How does the image quality look over the C9/B9?
