This is PC World's best budget SSD. It's a great SATA drive, and Hynix is new to the consumer game but has been making SSDs forever for enterprise and for other brands to rebadge.

MX500 is slightly better, but this SK Hynix is still really good. Near the top of performance when it comes to SATA drives. And while the MX500 is slightly better on paper, I don't think it would make a noticeable difference in real world operation. Unless you had the two side by side constantly doing benchmark file transfers could you tell, and even then it wouldn't be enough to matter. For game loading they'll be identical. If you're looking to save $7 this would still be a great drive.

SATA is pretty much maxed out with these drives (quality SATA drives with DRAM). The next boost you'll see in performance is moving to NVME.

I'm hoping to buy a 1tb SATA drive today. I have my eye on the Crucial MX500 for $91.
So far, I haven't seen anything beat it (yet).

I don't know much about SSDs though. Looks like this SK hynix also has DRAM and 5 year warranty. Anything else?

Sweet price for an SSD with a DRAM cache and 5 year warranty.

Great SSD! I decided to future-proof and go with an NVME M.2 though...

I snagged a Warehouse deal on an EVO 860 for $85. I'm assuming the Samsung is better?

I ordered one to give it a shot in my laptop. What sold me is the DRAM cache. none of the other ssds I was looking at today were offering any at a reasonable cost

I watched the P31 starting midnight and apparently it was on sale for a split second some point during the night before the deal ran out. Sad Frown

Bought the 500GB version (for $45). Both the 1TB and 500GB are solid deals for a great SSD.

Good to use as external for xbox series X I am assuming for older back compatible games with fast load times?

I understand it will not use the velocity architecture though.

While some other SSD's may win out on a test or two during reviews, the Samsung line of SSD's overall has been the best for years....

Can we stop splitting hairs between Samsung, Crucial, Hynix, etc? Even people who regularly move large amounts of data will tell you that there is basically no real world difference between these consumer grade drives. Just get whatever is on sale from a reputable manufacturer. Maybe read through the 1 star reviews to see what might go wrong.
