Ditto. I'd like to get my hands on an 8 from ebay or some other source to trade in. Probably won't have it by the 5th though.
You have 30 days from purchase.

I can confirm that both the eSIM and the physical SIM are locked. I haven't gone through the argument with AT&T yet that it kind of defeats the purpose of the dual SIM in the first place. I'm going to tell them I'm traveling internationally and see if I can get that second slot unlocked. I'm also not sure if there's a process to migrate the eSIM from one phone to another. When I activated my iPhone 12 I had to go to the AT&T store and pay $5 for a QR code and get the physical sim moved to the eSIM.
I tried that before and they out right rejected with a 2 year loyalty deal to unlock it with just 6 months left on contract. Hope that helps 🙏🙏🙏

Does the trade-in phone have to be an ATT phone?

I have two questions...1) how are guys getting activation fees removed? I used to be good at that but went to chat and only got 1 of 5 refunded. Any special number to call? Loyalty/retention?
2) I have a small scratch on lens of one camera on iPhone 8 Plus. Att guy at store said he would accept it, but that everybody is different. Was curious to what what has or hasn't passed on phones that surprised you guys? Thanks!
Few people in the earlier thread have commented they also where able to wave off only one line and even a supervisor also will not do the rest of the lines , and some people reported they where able to successfully do it with individually ordering 3 phones in 3 different days one same account. But in your case call and try I feel mostly be prepared to have the price payed . But call and give it a try 🙏🙏🙏

Nope, any carrier will work as long as it's valued at $95 or higher if you want the $800 trade-in credit.

I tried making an excuse a few days ago on my iPhone 11 Pro loyalty deal from last year to get it unlocked and was rejected; about 13 months in right now. My excuse I tried was saying that work issued me a new work phone but wanted to pop in the Verizon SIM and use my own phone instead of carrying two phones.

I'd be happy to agree to stay with them for 30 months, it's the forcing me onto a plan that costs twice as much per month I object to.

Bring back the (option) of a fixed-duration contract on your EXISTING plan in exchange for the big phone discount and I'm all over it... This 30 months plus jack your normal bill up stuff I'll just pay cash for the phone, it'll be cheaper in the end than their "deal" will.
I don't know what your plan is, but the promo works with legacy unlimited plans.

Looking to take advantage of the $700 credit for the 12 Pro Max this Friday's release. Are most people purchasing on Apple's site or AT&T? Any preference or better choice for the deal?

I too am wondering about this. But I'm also wondering if I need the pro Max. I currently have the XS Max so the Pro might be just enough. I know the Max has better battery, better stabilization but I think that is really it.

I have the XS Max also. I would get the Pro but I don't think I could ever go down to a "smaller" phone size.

The deal is identical regardless if you purchase from Apple, AT&T, Best Buy, etc.

My wife and I are on an old family share plan, a fairly cheap one that we also attached a free-promo-at-the-time double your data deal to so we get 9GB a month... data is not unlimited, and we don't need it to be given 99% of anyplace we go (especially in covid times) has wifi.

The cheapest unlimited plan I'd be forced to upgrade to would be at least 30ish bucks a month increase in my phone bill, which over 30 months would be more than $900 extra paid... and then I'm also STUCK paying 30ish extra a month going forward since my old plan will no longer be available.

From what I can tell the new unlimited plans suck if you've got less than like 4 people on em.

Better to pay slightly more cash up front and keep the cheap bill and have an unlocked phone on day 1 too.

At&t will NOT unlock this phone for 30 months and you can't use it while traveling. Big deal breaker for me!

No they don't. I tried this with iPhone XR and they did not budge. Sucks when you travel!

Hi, if you can help clarify.

So I can go to AT&T store and preorder the iphone 12, and then I have 30 days to send my current in for trade in?What if the iphone 12 is not available until December?
