TP-Link Archer AX50
The best Wi-Fi router
In our tests the TP-Link Archer AX50 created a speedy, responsive network even from across a medium house. You have to spend a lot more on a router—or a mesh kit if you have a very large home—to get anything even a little better. It's our first WI-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router pick.
The TP-Link Archer AX50 is reasonably priced, yet it can handle a growing selection of laptops and smart devices while surpassing the performance of routers that cost twice as much. It's generally speedy and able to reach long range, it has little lag even when the network is busy, and it's a great choice if you have a high-performance internet service plan. It's compatible with Wi-Fi 6, the latest wireless standard, and it comes with built-in security in the form of a lifetime subscription to updates.
TP-Link Archer AX20
If our main pick is unavailable
The Archer AX20 offers fewer features than our pick for a slightly lower price, but in most cases it can keep up in throughput, responsiveness, and ease of setup.
If our pick is out of stock or its price is more than $30 higher, you should consider the TP-Link Archer AX20 instead. The AX20 looks like the AX50 and offers a strong, responsive network that's nearly as good, especially if your house isn't larger than our 2,300-square-foot-test home. But it's not quite as fast at longer ranges, and TP-Link sacrifices a few advanced features and settings in its administration interface to meet the lower price

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
1. Donknows has a review on the AX3000 (Archer AX 50) this has thoroughly been discredited on this thread.
As was mentioned by me and a few others, that DONGKNOWS review is poorly done. It is not an apples to apples comparison, he used a router with a brand new firmware comparing to an identical router with firmware over 6 months old which had major problems just like any other router around that time. It takes time to work out the bugs and TP-Link, Netgear, Asus to name a few all put out routers with bugged performance with their first set of Wifi 6 routers. So yeah..... Important to make apples to apples instead of reading something without understanding the testing. If he did it the correct way he would have had both side by side on the same firmware. The routers are identical outside USB 3.0 port and Homecare included on one, so you will get identical performance results with the same firmware.

2. CAT7, a CAT 6 or CAT5e cable is needed for gigabit Ethernet. Most cables made for the last 10 years are already 5e, so just saying that cables are usually never a bottleneck.

Well at least for now:
a) I know the router has to be replaced
b) I need to ascertain why the SB6141 is only getting speeds of 50 to 86 mbps via the router (and why the cable company thinks it can only go to 120 mbps), and why they were pushing me to get their own modem (their modem, they say, will not cost me extra).
They are pushing for the newer modem cause it will in general provide you better service, but primarily cause they get their rental fee. Do a speed test direct from the modem before doing anything else to see if you really are getting slower speeds. As I mentioned in a previous comment your service wiring might also be a problem if they are using splitters to get your multiple modems running and if you have any tv service too.

2. They are not charging a rental fee for their modem (replacement for SB 6141).
3. In earlier posts, you seem to suggest that the AX 1800 ($100) is way better than the AC 1750 for half the price ($50). Is that a correct characterization?
4. Yes, I am aware that I need to test the SB 6141 speed without a connection to the router. I haven't had the chance as yet. I will report back when I test the speed without the router.
5. As you are aware, I too am curious to discover the bottlenecks. For one, I know it is the router. Now, to investigate if there are other bottlenecks like the SB 6141, or cable, or the arris telephony modem.
Thanks for all your help.

Usually they give basic modems and routers you will end up getting more speed by installing your own modem and router
I went from 60mb to 110 by getting my own stuff

#2.You mentioned there would be an extra cost for replacing the SB6141 which I thought would be the rental fee if you get the new modem, cause most providers charge a rental fee.
#3. It is a big step up and worth the cost for people that want to hold their routers for a long time cause its more future proof with the latest technology. The AC1750 is a highly rated budget model router so its very good but it will require replacement in a 2-3 years. Like your N300 router should have been a while ago, cause right now that N300 router is causing probably most of your problems.
#5. Yep good to see the bottlenecks and try to relieve those choke points. One final choke point as I mentioned could be your home lines coming from the outside might need to be replaced too if we were to cover every single base. As well as the lines inside the home and if they are using any splitters to split the service.
Currently I have 3 asus ac68u to cover a two story sfh with basement and a 0.4acer yard pretty well.
One serves as the main router. The second one is setup as a repeater throught 5ghz to the main. The third is set as a bridge to provide wired connection in my office and fast connect to NAS.
I have consistent 400Mbps internet using the main router 5ghz and 150mbps+ through the repeater. The 2.4ghz main and from the repeater provides reliable connection in the garage, backyard and for the low speed devices as echo/smart switches/garagedoor... the speed accessing to the NAS is about 600mbps from the 5g bridge.. I have about 50 devices connected in total and rarely have any issues of connections.
I did not use the mesh as the lower end dual band mesh could not provide such speed.
It is not to say the aging AC68Us are better. However, it does hsow the newer routers are probably overkill for average households. Reliability is quite important here.
I suggest you check the coverage to see whether the dropped device has too low rssi<-70dBm. Mesh routers are not designed to have better coverage/speed compared to old repeater/bridge/gateway structure. Mesh provide better coverage and decent speed and unified network with simiplied setup and maintainance process, so that it saves a lot of headaches of average consumers.

- Downgraded the firmware.
- Hard reset the device and downgraded and vice versa.
But nothing seems to help? Any idea on how to revive the device?Does the router in this thread or the AC 1750 select 2.3 GHz or 5.3 Ghz frequency as the default?
If you plug into the current modem and you dont get close to your speeds, than you can go the easy route and try a new modem and see what happens as the service provider suggested, and if that works great, if you still get slow speeds you would need a service tech to come out. Unless your really tech savy you dont want to be unscrewing and unplugging things and cause yourself a bigger head ache, like not having phone service and or internet.
