Maybe I'm missing something but is this even a good deal? The three pack normally goes for 350 at Best Buy (vs 130 for one here) and it's not exactly a great router since it's only AC2200 and has a lot of reports of slow wired connectivity
That 3 pack at Best Buy is one router and two points. The points are only AC1200 and don't have any wired ability. This is 40 bucks less than normal price for one router. I'd say it's a decent non-Black Friday deal.

If you only need a router without points (smaller place, or add to existing setup, etc.) the only better deal was "2 routers for $240" on amazon couple months ago.

Yes routers can be used as points. If you have whole home ethernet it can be hard wired in which gives it a better backhaul.

Looming at a mesh system.. One thing I like with Google is being able to create schedules. Are there better performing mesh systems out there that can do this for free?

If u need only a router u buy a different brand... The nest is super feature limited. Sold mine for an asus
If you think the Nest is feature limited, you would be very disappointed with the Orbi, which I just purchased.

Been seeing lots of deal alerts on google nest products which to me is a bit of a red flag. Have been disappointed in their products having bought the alarm setup and doorbell last year and as an early adopter of the thermostat which looks nice but is otw a waste of money. I would be concerned for future platform support on all their products.

The Google routers have Ethernet ports which in my usage is more stable than a strictly WiFi connection. Obviously not as good as a hardwire connection of course

hands down the best Wifi I have used, after Eero, Linsys, Netgear, these are the fastest and most reliable. I suggest you get multiple routers as they have the most antenna
