That's an insanely good offer. Why can't T-Mobile do the same?

I wonder if Costco will take the trade-in device in store or if you have to mail it in. After all of the horror stories with AT&T mail-in trades I'd like to avoid that.

Edit: looks like you have to mail it in. Ugh
Take it to a corporate store, DO NOT MAIL IN. I just went through the BBB to dispute 2 out of 3 phones received. They said screen would not turn on and had burn in issues which is false. Save yourself a headache and take it to the store.

So, that looks like the Unlimited Extra is the cheapest valid plan, correct - $75/mo for a single user without special discount? That would mean a 3 phone w/ [special people] discount at $37.50 each. Anyone know how much ATT taxes+fees add to those plans?

No carrier makes it easy to understand their plans, but this is before discounts, and the plan is applicable for multiple phones. For example, my plan is $100/mo + phone access charges. After discounts, my plan is $0 (6+ lines), and my phone access charges end up being ~$35/mo per line after all taxes and fee's.

This offer doesn't work well for a single or low number of phones, but if you have a lot of phones on your plan, you're already paying the plan fee and they're allowing you to trade in your iPhone 8 for an iPhone 12 for free.

Unlike every other offer out there from the other carriers, ATT is allowing existing customers on their more expensive (prior to discounts) plans to take advantage of this offer. No port in requirement.

still holding out hoping the loyalty discount with 2 year contract comes back. I had issues with bill credits disappearing randomly on some months. Had to call in to fix, then my paperless billing discount disappeared randomly as well. At&t....
Same here, but if they're going to force me into unlimited I'll go to Tmo who actually has some 5g towers in Phoenix. AT&T has like 3, TMO has like 20. 5g will do me zero good so I want to keep my 4g family plan and just get a new phone to replace this POS XS which can't keep a connection to the tower 2 blocks away.

They're like contracts in another form. Lock you into staying with a carrier to get the full "value" of the "discount"
Ans you're paying them $300 ish by trading in your phone. It's not a 'fantastic deal' by any means. But hey it's 2020 and we've come to live with paying hundreds to thousands of dollars for lies and broken features everywhere else. Why not start the 5g snowball of 2020 BS. Not sure if anyone in AZ has looked at the hilarious comedy that is AT&T's 5g coverage map. Of like 1 tower in the middle of Casa Grande. Yippie ki yay for them. All those Lucid employees going to be streaming 4k on their phones on the assembly line.

Honestly, I don't see myself ever going back to AT&T (or Verizon) just bc of those junk fees. Family member added a LTE watch to Verizon plan. $10/mo is $22 after fees. The bill Credit deals and the trade in phone deals and the add a line deals are all bad. Carriers basically saying "we need to force you to stay with us or get something valuable from you up front"

I asked at Costco and they said mail in. However, I wonder if you could take to an ATT store?
