I been reading these deals that include bill credits and they all have one thing in common. You have to commit to these overpriced unlimited plans to qualify. If you need an unlimited plan then these are slick, but do you really need an unlimited plan? 70 x 30 = $2100. If I pay google or comcast $30 a month for cell service I am saving like $1200 in that same 30 month timeframe. I could buy myself a $1000 phone every 2 years with that savings without any commitment, but without unlimited data.

I just checked at my local costco store in Sunnyvale, CA, the rep said that they do not have 12 pro available in the entire California. He asked me to call over weekend.

People who think this is a great deal are the same one that buy time shares.
You are making lots of completely unwarranted assumptions. Plenty of people have employers paying their monthly service fees but not their hardware costs, have grandfathered unlimited plans, huge corporate discounts, etc...

Hence, there are plenty of people paying the same or less for their post-paid plans than others pay for their MVNO plans, but get far better service, perks and discounts that you can't get with an MVNO.

To clarify, I have an "unlimited and more" line for my iphone X. This deal says I need to "Add a new line of service or upgrade an existing line". I'm not looking for a new line or different line, I'm not even sure there is an "upgraded" line offered relative to what I have now. So would I qualify for deal just trying to keep same plan but on iphone 12, trading in the X?

Not sure what "upgrade existing line" means - does that emcompassing upgrading your PHONE while keeping same plan? Thanks!
"Upgrade existing line" just mean you are signing a new installment contract for a new phone on existing line. Nothing change on your plan except you know how an installment for a phone. Your phone number and plan should stay the same, unless you asked to change it or the rep changed it without your permission.

Yes that's true, I cancelled my preorder promo to get costco promo and then realized they do not have the phone's in stock.

Ans you're paying them $300 ish by trading in your phone. It's not a 'fantastic deal' by any means. But hey it's 2020 and we've come to live with paying hundreds to thousands of dollars for lies and broken features everywhere else. Why not start the 5g snowball of 2020 BS. Not sure if anyone in AZ has looked at the hilarious comedy that is AT&T's 5g coverage map. Of like 1 tower in the middle of Casa Grande. Yippie ki yay for them. All those Lucid employees going to be streaming 4k on their phones on the assembly

It's my understand that to get true 5G service you need to be in the "Line of Sight" of a 5G signal.

is there also a new data plan for the 5G service that's required?

Yes, you have to be on one of the newest unlimited plans to get 5G: Unlimited Starter, Extra, and Elite.

I have the Note 20 Ultra 5G for AT&T and AT&T's 5G is still in its infancy and useless for the most part. The speed is so slow compared to 4G LTE that I use Samsung Band Selector to turn off 5G altogether.

Wait... $800 in credits over 2.5 years???

Plans are minimum $75/m?????

$75×30 = $2250 - $800 = $1450

fark that. Where are the savings???
Well the point is to compare it to another plan. And yes it makes much more sense when you're on a family plan. I pay $35/month plus taxes for the unlimited elite plan on a plan with 5 other family members. So trading in an iPhone 8 for the value of $800 is a pretty good deal, especially when I don't plan on switching services.

With every passing day, it seems contract deals are more or kind of money trap.
