Edit: Thanks RevOne for finding the discount codes. Now down to $174 + Freeship using coupon codes THANKS10 and FISH10
Was looking to replace my gas auger prior to ice season and came across this deal. $174 for a new gas auger is about as cheap as I've ever seen. Yes, it's gas, and also 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of most new gas augers and certainly electrics.
MSRP $429 but the best "real" comparison I could find was $300 at Cabelas, so still a pretty decent discount.
Not your high power, high cost, huge hog of an auger, but would likely do pretty good for the casual person or someone wanting to get into the game for cheap.

If you are getting a drill specific auger, eskimo pistol bit, strikemaster lite flite, k drill, razr etc. They are already set up to fit a drill chuck. If you go the hand auger route like a mora or lazer then you have to get an adapter. I'll try to find the one I have. With those hand augers it's often better to just get the clam plate for better control and avoid jarring your wrist (keep the drill against your hip to help avoid this).
You could but I wouldn't want to. This is a steel auger bit so it's going to be quite heavy and alot more work for the drill. If you get a lite flite you can use that on a drill or a gas auger powerhead.. makes for a light weight gas auger. D-rock auger service center used to sell just powerheads, not sure if they still do (local strikemaster approved service center but ship)

Kovac ice master drill adapter is what I have used. Different models depending on the auger.
Thanks. It looks like this auger is about 1.5 pounds heavier than the lite-flite. I'll be using a drill with over 1000 lbs of torque so I'm not concerned about the weight difference. My main question is will this auger by itself attach to a clam plate without needing an additional adapter. Thanks again for any help.

I used this auger for a month every weekend when installing ~80 fence posts in rock/clay of Virginia. Beats renting it for the same price locally
