First time posting here on SD. Saw the Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-440C for $279 on Adorama. If I go to Adorma directly the price shows as $549

They're on Klipsch's site as authorized for clearance sales

so true. how is a new user posting using the SD affiliate link? looks like iconian is taking a break or sid is his long lost brother.
The woofers are built made of different materials. The FP-440c woofers are made of cerametallic and the one you bought at Costco are copper spun IMG build woofers. You won't technically have matching timbre, but I don't really believe you will be able to tell the difference much. Just make sure you set up your crossovers correctly to match the LCR.

It is sad that when Audiovox bought over Klipsch they changed the synergy line speakers into reference series. The original reference series speakers are now called reference premier. They effectively diluted the brand in the name of profit. It makes it harder to distinguish between the two now until you look closely at the label. Don't get me wrong, I own the original Klipsch reference line before the take-over and I love them.

Edit: I stand corrected. I didn't see them in the "A" section so I didn't think they were authorized but the clearance section does list Adorama. That is good to know as I bought a clearance Klipsch from them before.

I've bought Klipsch from Adorama myself, but you should know they are not a authorized dealer.

Question for the experts. Right now have an old center channel Energy RF LCR
https://www.energy-speakers.com/c...-LCR#specs

Would this be an upgrade, or not worth the trouble? TIA.

I recently bought this set.

https://www.costco.com/klipsch-re...65767.html

Do you think it would be a good idea to swap the center with this? Would it sound good with the tower speakers? I imagine I can probably sell the R-52 center for a decent.

I got a similar setup from Adorama but with a Sub. The center in this is kind of ok and I've been looking for good deals on center. This looks great but I would still wait for a better deal

Looks like your towers have slightly bigger drivers than this center channel but everything is Klipsch. You'll have similar horn tweeters, and similar driver material so I think it could work out great and things should sound pretty seamless on your front stage.

I'm not an expert, but I doubt it would be worth the trouble. Both are excellent speakers in the same approximate price range (Klipsch MSRP is higher, but they often bring that down with sales), and both have very positive reviews.
