Just to point out for anyone who likes to buy USA made goods. Made in USA =/= Made in THE USA. By adding THE to the phrase, parts can be sourced from outside of the US. It's very misleading and probably not really legal but nobody is challenging it.

Just my opinion but get the 899 for tires and use a DeWalt XR Impact Driver for anything else. It has enough torque to substitute as a light duty impact wrench.

This is exactly why I picked one up yesterday. There have only been a couple times Ive been against a bolt that my cheapo impact and breaker bars wouldnt budged, and I would have given a left nut to have had a monster impact wrench to use. Now I have 90 days to re-think my life choices and return if i roll the dice on my next repair job for $200 lol

Been waiting patiently for ryobi to come out with a monster impact, but alas they have not yet. Bought this in store instead of using paypal via online for points, just in case it sold out and my order never got to ship. I did notice the price tag on the shelf was updated to this "sale" price so i guess perhaps this will be an everyday price? If so, ill probably return it and just wait to buy when I need it

In for one. I have been debating about getting a better air compressor and a good air impact gun but this deal changed my mind. I won't use it often but I will be glad I have it the next time I need it. This would have come in handy when I was rebuilding my jetski trailer this past spring.

If you use an impact frequently enough to debate hog ring vs detent pin you should already know how to easily swap sockets on a detent pin. If you're not going to town torquing down, you just don't line the pin up with the hole in the socket. If you are really rattling shit you probably aren't changing sockets so often that pushing a punch or 16 penny nail in the hole is going to noticeably slow you down.

If you're not making a living with the tool, which anvil it has really isn't going to matter much.

Well isn't that what a torque wrench is supposed to finish off after tightening?

You can rotate your tires extremely fast. It will remove anything on a car quickly, even Driveshaft nuts like they are nothing. Obviously I've found it most useful there. Yes you can overtighten your lugs with this thing. You can't really overtighten your lugs on level 1. Don't go beyond level 2 for very long and you will be okay. It works well with Torque sticks if you are really nervous.

It also makes larger lag-bolts like 3/8 and up a absolute breeze. Hanging a TV or building joining 4x4s is mince meat with the amount of torque this can make.

Absolutely.... This 899 with some 1200lb or more breakaway, has the torque to spare, where you use a different gear speed at the bottom if not needed. I have bought a number of these as gifts and everyone loves this tool. The 894 at close to the same price is a toy in comparison. There are plenty of reviews on youtube. [youtube.com]

Anyone that claims the 894 is even on the same page with the 899, is just trying to justify why they did not get the 899 for the same price. Smilie

..... Mine is in a case behind the truck seat with a couple of sockets I need for the truck or trailer and if I never have to use it on the road, that will be great. I also have the 20v DeWalt air compressor and a tire plug kit that resolves most problems without rim removal.

For the past two years, Lowes has sold this 899 as a kit with a 5amp battery for the same price of $199. Will it be duplicated, or even cheaper? Who knows... but the 4 amp does alright. But, if you are into the Milwaukee line, they have a great battery impact as well.

You know how to do it.... don't line the pin up with the socket hole and it will fall off, while there are times you don't want the socket to come off easy. A little lube on the detent pin will give that happy medium and stop it from rusting.

Hog rings wear out by being compressed and replaceable, but like most any impact, if they break, they almost always break the anvil where the hole is for the detent or the hog ring that is replaceable. And that is usually because the socket was not all the way on.
