One dumb question - why did you replace the original 8GB with two 8GB instead of just adding an additional 8 or 16GB?

You could also just go for a single 16gb stick but it will only run dual channel for the first 16 gb and at whatever speed is the lowest common denominator of the sticks. So that might be an option if you need more than 16gb of ram. 16 is more than enough for me and it would have cost twice as much to get a single 16gb stick then the route that I went.
