I am not a gamer, and would prefer a Wide monitor vs an Ultra Wide. But Technology wise, anyone comment how this Acer compares to this Samsung Monitor that Costco also has on sale? I just ordered the Macbook Air, and want to get a good external that will match up, but so many acronyms used in all these Monitor specs, I don't even know where to begin.

GIGABYTE G34WQC

To be honest, I don't really want to post it here because I haven't gotten mine yet. LOL. It was in stock on Newegg yesterday and because of my stupid procrastination, it is now back ordered. But then, it's almost Christmas and I want to do one good deed by sharing.

after using this for 2 days, i don't like it. even though I like the HDR and free sync feature, I don't play enough games or watch movie on the monitor. the Dell U3415W has better color and easier on the eyes.

The Samsung is only 60Hz which may not matter to you if you're only doing office work. It does NOT have VESA mounts on the back so you can't attach it to a third party VESA stand, wall mount, desk clamp, etc. It does not have HDR which also might not be that important to you for office work. The resolution is 4K however (versus this Acer's QHD) which might be overkill for a 32/34 inch but it might be important to you - theoretically can do more multitasking if the text isn't too small for you. Lastly, the Samsung has great reviews. I say grab it unless you want to jack around with all this out of stock / price match nonsense on the Acer.

Sure thing. Just spread some rep if you can Wink

Calibration was aiming for 6500K with gamma set to 2.2. So I calibrated with a brightness of 40, contrast 50, black boost 5. Color 2.2, color temp set to User, R Gain 48, G Gain 47, B Gain 47.

It's said you can adjust brightness without affecting the temperature or colors much. Rtings calibrates at 100 nits actually (for those that don't know).

Uploaded the .icm file and the DisplayCal report post-calibration.

I can try to calibrate again under the Warm color temperature setting. I think it should be more universal, and at 6600K it's already close to my target of 6500K. Just keep in mind the whole procedure takes roughly an hour, so give me a day or two if anyone is interested.

Slickdeals site doesn't allow me to upload .icm files, so I uploaded to Google Drive.

I'd be interested in that warm mode calibration.. No rush. I really appreciate it :-D

This one would be a no go for me. Only 60Hz and just 1 HDMI input.

Yes, the 60hz worries me since I see so many other monitors with higher, and my Ipad Pro (120hz I believe) is just so much smoother than the wife's non pro (60hz?). Any recommendations?

Maybe someone can help me out. I got this monitor and it was delivered today. I am waiting on my new Gaming PC to be delivered in a few weeks, and have this monitor plugged into my 6 year old HP laptop. Its running at like 1920x1080, but the color is just not good. Washed out looking. Colors not popping at all. I figure its the laptop thats causing the crappy color. I have played around in the INTEL settings, and do not see a option for FULL RGB, so thats out.

Any advice on how to pull more color out of this while I wait for my main PC to get here, or am I stuck with a washed out yellowish image due to a old crappy 1080 video card?

I am just going to wait to see if more of the deal mentioned in this post (Acer 34" Curved 144Hz @ $349.99) comes back in stock.
