We are in the process of building a house that will be ready by around May next year. Buy now or wait? This is the latest one? Sorry, am not familiar with home security systems.

If you buy this, do not under any circumstances put the Ring yard sign or window sticker up. Get the ADT sign and stickers and put them up.

I actually used to have this and since its wifi based, smart thieves bought a wifi jammer and knocked it out and broke in while I was at work.

And honestly, if possibly always hardwire sensors.

Yes. This is Gen 2 and there likely won't be a new version by May - even if, it will probably be compatible, just like this is compatible with the Gen 1 model of this alarm and vice versa.

This is the best price you will see for this system anywhere, and likely at anytime. Great system!

Pick up more than one to take advantage of additional sensors, keypads, etc., instead of adding individual pieces later (i.e. keypad for $40-$50 by itself).

I imagine the base station was on wireless? So they jammed both the 'regular' 2.4GHz/GHz wireless, as well as the 908.42MHz Z-Wave band?

I suppose when advertising (yard sign) they would come prepared with equipment for both, but tough to pull off with the mesh network and proximity of the devices, and you are notified if any devices (sensors) disconnect) - they must of kept up a continuous, strong signal to keep all wireless spectrums in use jammed.

Good information to share and always a nice tip with alarm yard signs. A good idea, if you are able, would be to plug the base station in directly with a network cable.

For others to know, there is a cellular backup (AT&T) built into the base station, so if you are on wireless and have the Ring Protect/monitoring active ($100/yr), then the cellular would kick in and continue to provide the Internet and alert access to what is going on with the sensors and overall system - unless the event of extremely prepared thieves to also bring a jammer for yet another frequency range for the cellular.

I've seen Ring yard signs but this looks like it doesn't come with any... Is that something you purchase direct from Ring with your subscription?

What would be user case for 2 key pads? 1 for entry 1 for bedroom?
If you hear an alarm, don't u want to go to entry to check it out instead turn it off at bedroom?

Can someone enlighten me why an extra pad in bedroom is needed?

Correct. It comes with stickers. Yard signs can be purchased separately, and they also have a cool, solar light up sign if one wants that. If you call them, they usually will send you a sign for free though.

Yes. All for convenience, and personal preference. Some people will supplement these with cameras, as not needing them to go to the fault point and check things out, and possibly put them in harm's way. Others may have a larger residence, and a more locally-placed keypad makes sense, instead of traveling farther from their location to disarm. Different types of people and circumstances will determine the need to each individual, naturally.

The keypads are wireless, and the battery will last ~6-months before a recharge, so you can keep one 'mobile,' too, and keep bedside or wherever, and do not necessarily need to wall-mount.

Many people will have one near main points of entry, or all entry doors. Usually somebody will keep one in the bedroom to arm and for panic buttons. Perhaps even a mix-and-match of wall-mount and loose keypads.

The Ring app will, of course, also let you arm/disarm the system at a tap of the virtual button.

Best to not have any additional tablets or mobile devices with the Ring app installed not available (and unlocked/no passcode) in the event somebody tries to disarm by using one of them, as they would not need a PIN like the keypad requires, but rather just the persistent logged-on app, from one of these devices.
