HD has the slightly better battery kit (6.0 and 4.0, both 21700 based), but this deal includes different tools. I wish they did this one with the 6/4 setup but still a solid offer. If HD offers your preferred free tool though, I would go with that kit instead.
Why is a 6/4 better than a 5/5? What's the difference?

*nevermind. Someone answered above.

Anyone know how much $ they'll refund if you return the batteries but keep the tool?
I purchased the HD deal in store and the max refund value is printed on the receipt. $199 for battery kit, $199 for compact router (which was free). Paid $200 + tax and max refund for each item is $99.50

Just curious why would you prefer a 6 and a 4 more than 2 5s?
You also get the newer 116 charger vs 115

If you search online for a $20 off $100 coupon you can get for $2.49 with instant delivery. Then take another $20 off the deal. Did it and worked perfectly. $179 + taxes.

IMHO, the best deal for the money is the DCS334B Jigsaw and second would be the DCS356B Oscillating tool... The oscillating tool has just about replaced the jigsaw for many applications, but that jigsaw is pricey wherever it is sold.

The batteries required picking up at store, but the tool can be shipped, which is exactly what I did to the recipient. About now would be a great time for a 20% coupon from eBay, but satisfied with the 10% military discount and some gift cards purchased earlier at $90 for a $100.

Good find... repped....

Edit for the router would be a good deal if you need it. Most will find it not nearly as useful as the oscillating or the jigsaw.

I'm going to be able to build a house out of 5ah batteries soon.
Going with the router so I can make a mini Pantorouter. That will complete my Trifecta Pantorouter set.

Thanks OP!!!

Sorry, let me explain properly. Most tool batteries are made with 18650 cells, they look like overgrown AAs inside. the number is a reference to the dimensions, 18mm diameter by 65mm length. Recently the newer 21700 (21mm x 70mm) cell has become popular. It's a bit larger which makes for a larger battery pack, but they are capable of higher power output, more capacity, and generally run cooler as well. They tend to be a bit more expensive as well right now.

There are trade offs to be weighed. The double row packs (the old 4.0s and the 5.0s) are able to push out more current than the 21700 single row packs, so the old 4.0 is actually stronger than the compact one. The 21700 packs are larger horizontally. I think a lot of people have concluded that a bit more mass is a good trade off, and of course objectively speaking the 21700 batteries are more expensive so the same price is a better deal.

Not sure. You may want to do separate purchases.

"(2) DCB205 5.0Ah batteries, (1) DCB115 charger, soft bag included"

Not sure they make a 116 charger?.... but this 115 is a 4 amp charger and more than ample for 20v. The fan cooled 118 is multi volt for 60 or 20 and pushes 8 amps for 60v and 4 amps at 20v. The 118 helps on job sites in the summer when it is constantly running and charging.

FWIW the HD deal is a "localized" $219 for some people (for me in Bay Area), not $199

Also street value of 5 Ah is $70-75 (just sold one on Marketplace), charger $15-20

I don't believe Lowes allows the hack that Home Depot does. The total should show $0 on the receipt. I'm pretty sure if you returned the batteries they would ask for the tool back, but then again maybe they won't...

Just bought the 20v router and a 6ah/4ah starter set at HD online for $169 pretax. Just put it in cart. No hacks necessary
