HD manager able to pull the step ladder from the top shelves and i am not sure if the sale only starts on 11/8. But they helped me today morning to pick one and this kind of heavy. It seems we need to find the correct person from that department as no one knows where the step ladder really located.
Tons at my store but not on the shelf. They said they are black Friday only and refused to sell me one. They did have the others that look exactly the same but those rang up at $32
Same thing happened to me, showed 50 in stock (brickseek and cashier lookup). The SKU is slightly different and was hidden away somewhere in the back. We waited a while, guy that knows about it was on break, after a few mins the cashier made the executive decision and just adjusted the price!
Had a store associate look up the SKU and said it was online only? I'm so confused.
No that's not true even for me they said same thing based on HD website as it shows not in stock. But I told them to check the items count in store and it showed 100 and they are able to locate 60 from wrapped up package.
Which section/department can I find this? Brickseek showed up 100+ in stock. I tried in the garden and decking section and couldnt find it. I asked someone and he checked the item no and said its only available online

Most of HD they have not placed it for sale and probably ask them to locate the store shelves using the brickseek UPC number. If the location is not exactly clear but shows still in stock, then it should be available next to ladder sections or bubble wrapped and kept it in one of the top shelves. It varies based on the store and the sale is not clear.
I found mine in the ladder area of my store. Which was in the front right hand corner. Picked up 2 and they seem really solid and have good weight to them.
There were TONS in my local store, spread out across multiple different displays. I'm highly skeptical of anyone who says their stores didn't have any first thing this morning. Sounds more like you looked in the wrong spot and didn't ask for help.
My store showed tons of them on brickseek, but none to be found on the sales floor. I saw about 6 large boxes on one of the upper shelf with Gorilla labelling, so I'm assuming these are them. I didn't feel like bugging anyone about getting them down as I'm sure I'll be back in store while they're still on sale.
This is a general complaint to make other customers aware, and a guide for how to prepare if you still want to buy this (skip to Part 2 if you just want the guide).
Part 1 - Complaint: Home Depot is committing "Fraudulent business practices" by advertising a sale price online and on the app (which says "Delivery from store available").
But then not all stores have put the items in reach. Some stores are still hiding them on the top pallet shelves, so that unknowing customers cannot grab the item, and knowing customers have to waste time convincing the manager to "find" and bring it out.
The fraud is that a company cannot advertise a price online (national chain, with the website showing the advertised price after your store is selected, i.e. it is in stock for that store) -- then the in store manager says we don't have it or we don't price match to correct the bad service.
It is compound fraud to have the deceptive price advertised online, but stay buy in store only - to get the customer in to shop for other items. And it is fraud for one Home Depot (national chain) to say it's not on sale here (when you show them pictures of the sale online).
Loss Leader – selling an item at less than cost in order to promote the purchase of other merchandise, deceive customers or harm competitors
Locality Discrimination – selling a product at a lower price in one section or community than in another place without adequate justification
Advertising goods or services with intent not to sell them as advertised
Advertising goods or services with intent not to supply reasonably expectable demand, unless the advertisement discloses a limitation of quantity
The website did not say "Black Friday only sale" nor limited supplies (at the item page). Yesterday (and prior), it showed a sale price ($9.98), online and the app. (And I was told to come back today, after arguing yesterday.) But today, corporate changed the website to say "This item is currently out of stock." I know this is fraudulent because Brickseek still showed an inventory of 170 (and they found them in store when I insisted they either look or price match the similar [$32, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Goril.../310833692 ]).
It is also not our fault if some stores released them early, because the website advertised the price nationally to get customers to come in. (And it's not our job to guess when their advanced Black Friday sale is. Even in store, I photographed display boxes saying early "Get Black Friday Prices Now." [https://imgur.com/a/3bIfYF9 ]. This shows they are trying to trick and argue with customers that the early Black Friday sale didn't start yet (for this ladder), when it did.)
Part 2 - Guide: If you want this item, prepare before you go in store.
Zoom in, and take another screenshot of the "Store SKU" number (this is what they need to "find" the ladder on the top shelves). Or download my picture to your phone: https://imgur.com/a/3bIfYF9
If the "Store SKU" number is no longer displayed, then take a picture of the other item numbers: Internet #207074147
Model #GLS-3CS. (Today HD committed fraud by changing the website to claim "This item is currently out of stock" - so that the website does not display the "Store SKU" - to deny customers this information - to make it harder for them to show as evidence, which is needed to convince the manager to bring it down from the top shelves.)
Take screenshots of what other people said to get good service in their store: they went to check out, showed the sale price, and asked to price match. Or they showed the item number, and asked to bring the pallet off the top shelf. (Read these examples of good service out loud in store, if you get to step 9 and fail. I didn't need to do this.)
Charge a camera, prepare what you want to say. Be polite, persistent, and say counters to any bad service or excuses.
Go the the Ladder section:Find the ladder or similar version. (Note that my store hid the real version 20 isles away, on the top shelve. So you can use your camera, zoom in and take pictures of the codes on the top shelve boxes. But the real boxes may not be in the Ladder isle.)
If you can't find the real one, and find the similar: then proceed to check out, have your phone ready, and ask to price match after showing the screenshot of the sale price that was "advertised." (Saying the price was "advertised" is the key legal word, because their website made a claim, thus the store is required by consumer law to comply with it.) [I went in store with the above info, and still had to calmly argue that they are committing fraud when they refused to price match or get the real item down to sell to me. When I showed the screenshot, they made fun of me, saying it's just a screenshot and they want to see the live website view. I countered that I took the screenshot yesterday and they refused to sell me the item, and told me to return today; and they committed fraud by changing the website today, to conceal the item number while still showing the sale price.)]
If they refuse to price match, ask for a manager while in line, so they are under pressure and other customers see their bad business. (I've experienced this fraud from Home Depot many times. Some users report good service, but my stores have bad service and need to learn to improve.)
Ultimately, they forced me to go to Customer service and speak to another manager. If they claim they don't have it, say you checked their inventory online, and show the picture from step 1 (to convince the manager to stop hiding the inventory - since you know it's in store). [I took the alternate ladder ($32) with me and explained that I was there yesterday, showed the price evidence, but the manager told 2 of us to come back today, and it would be out on sale. It wasn't. Today's manager argued and said they don't price match. I said this is "Fraudulent business practices" because the price is still advertised today online, and HD is a national chain (meaning specific stores can't decide not to have the sale). I said to either price match or find the real ladder to sell me. They asked to see the Bar code - I showed the Store SKU number. Then they made the call to "find it."]
If they still refuse to price match or find the ladder (which you have confirmed is in store): Then say: it is criminal for you to commit fraud and deny me equal service. I have documented this experience to compare to the good service that others reported about this sale item. I will have to file a business complaint. Will you comply with consumer law and price match this similar item? If they say no, then don't push it, it's best to file a complaint offsite without a threat of trespass. If a manager is not rational enough to offer good service after you've indicated that others have, then they may act irrational and attack your right to shop there peacefully.
Ultimately I wasted 2 hours in store , gas for 2 trips, and invested 1 hour writing this guide to help my fellow members. Good luck.
If you have a good or bad experience, please describe here. I will compile information to send a complaint to corporate. We shouldn't be hassled to go in store for an advertised price, only for some managers to deny good service. Service should be consistent nationally.
These are in stock per brickseed they are difficult to find in store because they are spread out among the BF sale displays. Each display only holds like 6-8 ladders. I asked 5 people and nobody knew where they were. Luckily the 6th person I asked found a display nearby.
Note to OP and mods. I see this is marked expired now, because the Home Depot website changed it to "This item is currently out of stock." But what they did was fraudulent (explanation above - the ladders ARE in stock, the website is lying, and some stores are hiding them). But customers still can buy this in store for $9.98 (ask to bring it down if it's not out yet) - the sale is still on today.
Also this note should be added to the OP: This is an early "Get Black Friday Prices Now" sale (confirmed with a picture of in-store display). So customers should be aware that employees may attempt to lie to dissuade customers from insisting on being sold the sale price.

Did they sell you the $32 one and price match for $9.98? If not, then they defrauded you (lied about the $9.98 version only being available for Black Friday - and refusing to sell you it today - when HD has a "Get Black Friday Prices Now" sale that is already live).
See my guide and photo evidence on page 8 for details. And if you don't want to be hassled to go back, then please DM me your experience so I can file your complaint with mine.

When can you get in store? I looked at the bf ad and it is saying 11/8. I went this morning and they looked up the system and said none in stock. There's another one that's $32 some gorilla 3 steps and they said that wasn't it. I gave up and went home.
You can get this ladder in store today, for the early "Get Black Friday Prices Now" sale. See my guide on page 8. You might have to convince them to "find" the pallet and bring it down. Any employee who says it's "Black Friday" only (Thanksgiving), is lying. If you don't want to be hassled to go back, then please DM me your experience so I can file your complaint with mine.

Don't doubt the members. Some stores are literally hiding the pallets 20 isles away from the Ladder isle. So even customers who know the ladders are in stock (Brickseek), can't see these ladder boxes on the top shelve in the ladder isle. Corporate also lied and changed the website today, to claim the ladders are no longer in stock [for your selected store that had them in stock yesterday]. But yes, members should ask for help to "find" them.
