From Costco after deducting 2% for executive member + 2% from citi costco card, you are looking at $1775. With costco deal you also get $100 hulu credit, 7 years warranty (1 year from LG, 1 year from costco, 3 years from allstate, and 2 years from citi card), which the last 2 years from citi card does not exclude burn in.

I think it is a no brainer to go with costco.
Do the allstate and citi warranties kick in sequentially?

Yeah I might end up returning mine as well, it's still in the box. I was really looking forward to it. I'm not worried about burning, I had my C7 for 3 years (5k hours)
What would you suggest in the meantime to support next gen consoles or just get something cheap until they can get this fixed next year hopefully?
I would say wait for next year's one, if you can. So that they can iron out the hdmi 2.1 and oled issues. If you don't want to, the sony x900 is still a good middle ground and with right calibration looks really good. Its going to be $999 during black friday.

It has the blurred text issue at 120hz but that's apparently ymmv and mostly with PC, with the newer gpus. The news is that they are going to work on a fix for it. With PS5 coming out and supporting 4K 120Hz, I believe they will do something

Personally, going to wait out the next 6 months and get the 2021 models.

Are you sure that the citi one covers burn in? From what I recall, only bestbuy warranty covers burn in.

What do you expect from 1st gen hardware? People post over and over " I want this TV because its HDMI2.1, its future proof, etc." In reality it is not, its beta hardware. Most people on here dont even really need HDMI2.1, they just want to say they have the latest and greatest.
Yup, I realized that after getting hyped up by all the good reviews and buying it. The tv is great but I just felt that there were too many ifs and buts to justify that cost.

It does not exclude burn in. The coverage basically covers everything that it does not exclude. From the credit card's terms, here are the exclusions:

Coverage doesn't apply under these circumstances:
■ You fail to care for or service the item appropriately as required by the manufacturer.
■ The item has a product defect, recall, or experiences normal wear and tear where no failure has occurred.
■ The item is damaged because of an act of God, such as a flood, hurricane, lightning, wind or earthquake.

In reality LG regressed with this model compared to their C9. I too bough the CX a few months ago. I would've waited, but I just moved into a new place a needed a new Tv for the living room. Also, the CX was in my price range compared to a Sony

Just recently puchased LG CX i love it. Its wonderful. Beautiful picture but i must agree in dark areas the picture of the game is just too dark. I hope theres a quick fix for this as id much rather not deal with the hassle of returning it to best buy.

Especially with next gen ps5 just 2 days away.

Just saw this report, anyone have concerns or feedback regarding this?
OLED TVs below 120 Hz have problems with variable refresh rate (VRR), says LG
https://www.techgenyz.com/2020/11...te-vrr-lg/ [techgenyz.com]
Not sure why you'd get a thumbs down for important information like this. probably just someone who likes being negative. This is an important article anyone buying an LG should read. Very nice find.

Nearly 10k LG OLED tvs from 2019 and 2020 with failing power boards from overheating is pretty significant. Especially for 2020 tvs.

Also possible flickering or instability in dark areas with next gen consoles is important to any one buying the next gen gaming consoles.

Also the article is a little misleading....

First they state that VRR issues will occur in tvs lower than 120hz but later state
"if the VRR is used while the refresh rate is not more than 120 Hz, it will make the OLED TV's gamma curve to be in conflict with the refresh rate. To be more specific, a 120Hz frame rate is not longer than a 40Hz frame rate which indicates that a lower frame rate will probably make the pixels overcharge making the dark gray image to flicker."

So I'm guessing that the second part stating the tvs need to be more than 120hz for proper use of VRR is more accurate.

I cant see this being fixed with a firmware update. This is a technology barrier. The only way they could fix this with firmware is to install limitations.

This statement about VRR issues by LG is stupid.

"However, LG mentioned the OLED panel rather than the OLED TV itself responsible for the problem"

The panel is 90% of the tv so who is LG trying to fool?

Thanks and here is another video review from a really reputable source

I'm just confused on what I should do now since I did buy this but haven't opened it yet and preorded the PS5
Debating if I should just go with a cheaper tv like a TCL and wait and hope they fix this with their newer models in 2021

I don't have that warranty but I'm pretty sure burn-in would apply under the
"or experiences normal wear and tear where no failure has occurred."

Unless they specifically state they cover burnin I would say they don't. Insurance companies have a way of wording things to get out of paying for anything that they don't specifically state they cover.

Well if you bought it from Amazon you have until January 31st to return it so you might as well use it for now.
If the article is correct it is most likely applies to any tv with VRR but I guess it could just be OLED tvs.

If there are flickering issues with your console and you could probably return the tv as defective and not have to pay return shipping costs. Even if the tv isnt technically defective manufacturers screwed up with VRR if it can cause power boards to overheat and if its likely to call flickering.

If widespread power boards fail with people using next gen consoles I can see a huge mass lawsuit coming.

As far as 2021 tvs fixing the issue its a definite no. This article just came out for one.

2021 tvs are ready to ship to dealers. Possibly in 2022 tvs at the earliest. I have a lot of guesses to what could happen but no sense dwelling.

Myself personally I had enough negatives already with my CX. The VRR issues are one thing but possible overheating causing failing power boards really is making me thing I should just go back to Samsung and get away from OLED until the issues are fixed.

Ive been looking at the Sony LED`s but at least with Samsung I wouldn't have overheating though. Still it would suck to give up the picture quality of OLED

Yup, burn in is normal wear and tear according to LG. So, it won't be covered unless it's mentioned that it will be in the warranty. Bestbuy explicitly mentions that they will cover it.

Got it from Costco so I think I have 90 days, if rather return it while it's still sealed .Which Samsung would you suggest for about the same price if I wanted to go away from OLED?

If you are looking at Samsung.. the Q80T. From what I read there isn't enough difference to bother with the Q90T. Basically the 80 and 90 are the best non OLED tvs. Not quite on the level of led but the reviews are pretty good. You wont have to deal with burnin. The picture isn't quite as good but close. Supposedly the sound is better on the Samsung from what I saw on a side by side CX vs Q80T Youtube review.

Check page 2 what I wrote about the negatives that applied to me. Whether they apply to others that's based on what the functions each individual uses.

I was considering the Q80T prior to finding out the VRR issues and possibility of it causing power boards to overheat and fail. I'm leaning more to Samsung now. Going to wait till BF for lower prices and more news before making a final decision.
