IPS panel, not VA panel. Means contrast is shit. 60hz native. Bad local dimming. Very low peak brightness. Good color out of the box. Poor black uniformity. Can't use this in the dark due to its low contrast ratio. Contrast is king. This is a low end TV.
The 75 inch TCL 4 series VA panel is a better buy at $500 on sale. That's just MY OPINION. They are in the same class.
After doing a lot of research, I just purchased this bad boy. Couldn't beat this price and I didn't want to shell out for an OLED. Headed to Best Buy right now to pick it up!
So this or a 65" Sony X900H? I mostly watch tv and movies on it. Where I'm going to put it could support a 75, so do I go for raw size or what seems to be a nicer and more future proof tv?

I would go with the Sony. Got one a couple weeks ago and couldn't be happier. No complaints.
I do a lot of gaming as well as watching shows and movies. Everything looks and works great.
I don't really mess around with the apps or the smart features but the Google assistant is kind of neat.
Just bought the 55" for $450 last week and love it. Has great sound compared to my old Samsung. Colors are better and more vibrant. Personally not a TV snob or even that well read on them. 2 year old Samsung 4k had a few bright spots and this was best looking display I saw at Target. Big difference. Also I believe there's a free PL5 bluetooth speaker offer if you buy this TV. I'll try to find link. Speaker goes for around $70.

I'm assuming that the 85 series has more features than the 80 series, but is it worth the extra $400? Also does this stack up well against a 75" Samsung q60t series?
