Anyone know if the phone has to be a T-Mo phone or can it be any provider as long as it's one of the listed models?

Did the in-store swap yesterday and really like the phone and would like to get another. It's a little bigger than I prefer but for $250 after trade-in it's pretty fantastic.

Does not have to be a TMO phone but it obviously must meet the rest of the requirements.

Did you get the credit instantly or as bill credits?

So I did the deal in the store. They just popped in the sim from my old phone. There was a new sim in the box. I called TMobile and they said I should use the new sim because it may work better with the 5G. I never know if I'm getting accurate info. I did end up installing the new sim because I saw no downside.
Always try to have unactivated SIMs on hand and not activate them unless you really think you can afford to do so. I bought my family new 5g phones and the old SIMs worked. The TForce person I spoke to said the old SIMs should work to pick up the 5g bands. Tmobile will work with you into the distant future to make sure your connection works.

On the other hand, one advantage of not using the new SIM if you can avoid it is that you now have a spare SIM for limited time offers. Anyone remember the free add-a-line deal from June/July this year? Those who had spare unactivated SIMs could get the promo with less headache, fewer interactions with TMo, and see the promo reflected on their accounts more quickly than those that had to wait to get a new SIM from Tmobile.

Tmobile doesn't really just give spare lines away to be held on to like a Shutterfly promo credit available for future use, but rather, Tmo wants the new line associated with an actual phone (and hopefully new user who will become a separate, future subscriber). So in that promo over the summer, people were stressing out because they really wanted the free line for life but Tmo required an unactivated SIM to register that line to. Depending on your plan, those eligible would just pay taxes or nothing at all and it's truly a no cost line. On top of that, there was also 50% off iPhone SE or other phones with new line (free line ok) promo, making people worried whether the free line promo would end before they got the SIM in their shipment from Tmo or whether they should go out to a retail store to buy a SIM pack because even if they didn't see the value of the free line for life, they really wanted the 50% off certain phones and didn't trust that Tmobile would honor the 50% off. And as even greater advantage to having an unactivated SIM is that like that time back in June/July, when Tmobile offers free lines (and the fear of the promo ending at any time), people bog down every communication channel with Tmo so having the unactivated SIM in hand saves you another later day of stress trying to reconnect with Tmo once you get your hands on the new SIM that came with the phone or your SIM pack. That, my fellow SDers is the downside/trade-off/advantage to consider.

Tmobile has picked up a crazy amount of bandwidth through Sprint and spectrum auctions so I'm hoping these recent 5g phone promos are just the start of a massive push for new users (and hopefully more crazy, compelling promos) under Mike Sievert's leadership.

You should get the $250 credit instantly and then the monthly payment will be $250 / 24 minus whatever trade-in value you get for your current phone if you're trading one in. I haven't received a bill under these new terms yet so not sure how that will all shake out.

$60 as a one time bill credit, the rest taken off as monthly credits is how it's been in the past.

I guess if you're adding a line this is a decent deal. I've got 3 3a ones from T-Mobile's promo on that back when and they are all going strong. Given that T-Mobile's 5g is the worst of them all I don't see why I'd want to bite.

Help with my T mobile Family one plan (activated before 2018)

What I have: 3 paid lines + 1 free line (3 paid lines have kick-back, $10 each < 2 GB data usage)

Can I double dip into the Thanksgiving T-mo offers.

1. With my Costso membership, can I add new line (tomorrow 11/25 promo start date), Get $200 Costco shop card in the future?

2. Double dip into the T-mo offer [Get a FREE Google Pixel 4a 5G when adding a new line (from step #1) AND trading in an eligible old smartphone] - I have a trade in eligble device with me.

3. Not on top of my priority list - I do have a eligble Eligible SOC codes - As an existing T-Mobile Family One plan customer: Free Line returns 11/25, plus port-ins to get $100 rebate. ---- Is there a pathway to get T-mo $100 rebate (for a temp sim-number swiped up from ebay)?

Thoughts,on how best to sequence these

Practical to just get #1 ?
Practical to stack up #1 & #2 ?
Practical to stack up #1 & #2 & #3 ?

I have the same question. Thinking about picking up a used pixel first gen locally, but it has a small crack in the back glass. Screen is fine. Anybody know how this works with phones that have rear glass?

I bought a used Pixel on ebay for $75 and did the trade in at the store. Coming from a Pixel 2 XL, I am very happy with the phone. Seems comparable except the 5g is great in the PHX area. Speed at my house went from about 10/5 to 30/10, I was able to get 33/103 at Union Hills and 7th St and 65/89 around PV Mall. The store did charge me $20 plus $10 for new sim and was not able to get T-Force to waive.
