Trying to decide between this (M12 Fuel stubby) and the M12 Fuel Surge. The difference in length shows only 0.4" which translate to me to about 1/2".
M12 stubby 4.8" long
M12 Fuel Surge 5.2" long
I'm enticed by the Surge with the hydraulic action. I have really bad arthritis in my hands and feel the Surge would really benefit me.
Any thoughts?
EDIT TO ADD - I was looking at the Surge 1/4 impact - sorry!

Get the surge. These are different tools. The surge is an impact driver, and has a female quick connect for accepting screwdriver and other kinds of bits. The compact impact driver has an anvil like a socket wrench and is really just for driving impact sockets. The compact impact driver is primarily an auto mechanics tool.
All that said, I'm pretty sure the m18 surge is $199 at HD right now with two batteries. Actually it's free when you buy to batteries for $199. There's hardly any reason to get the m12 over the m18. I own an m12 surge and wish I'd gotten the m18.

I disagree, I have the M12 Surge and love it. With the small batteries it is so compact and light. It is really nice for getting into tight spaces and is plenty powerful for driving any fastener
Same, I sold my M18 Surge after the M12 came out. I'd only see an advantage to the M18 if you're consistently driving lots of long fasteners.

I have their M18 Fuel 1/2" impact wrench and M12 3/8" ratchet. This will slot right in between for automotive DIY.
