I just purchased this water heater, normally $1299, for $799 + tax + $75 shipping.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rheem.../312742081

Steps to get deal:
1) Go to above link
2) Change store to zip code 15010(Edit: use Zip 97322 for $699 instead of $799)
3) Select Ship to Home (unless you happen to live close to this store), add to cart.
4) Check out.

Additional notes:
1) Federal tax credit of $300. State tax credits vary, in my home state we get an additional $400 (bringing this heater down to $99 + $75 shipping + tax).
2) For many/most, the $75 shipping is worth it even if you can get this price locally as these heaters are quite heavy and supposedly must be transported vertically.
3) Do your homework on these hybrid heaters before purchasing. You need 220V to operate. Installation expense is generally much higher with hybrid electric vs standard electric resistance heaters and gas heaters. Hot water recovery is very slow (but you can switch to standard electric mode for rapid recovery when you know your usage will be high, e.g. having company over). They can apparently be loud, so if this will be located close to a bedroom, important to think about. There are important climate and installation location factors to consider--just google.
4) The newest generation of this series from Rheem, called "Proterra" can be had for $1269, a slight discount compared to full price (15% for my location). After carefully examining specs, photos, etc - it seems that the only difference with the Proterra series is built-in leak detection with auto-shutoff. FYI if that feature is important to you, you can add it for $219:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rheem...513?NCNI-5
5) This is for 50 gallon. Looks like if you need 65 gal or 80 gal, the Proterra is actually on sale (whereas the Performance Platinum is full price), making the Proterra cheaper.

Ordered a few minutes ago. Thanks!! I was able to get Scheduled Delivery at my address (nowhere near 15010) and still get the $799 price. I had to go into my Profile and change "My Store" to the Chippewa store first so I could complete the checkout without the price changing back to $1299.
Update: my order confirmation and receipt list price as $799 but the follow-up email with delivery information lists item price as $1299.

I assume replacing a Gas heater with this would cost a lot of money (depending on other factors) since this unit is electric?

Price is showing as $699 from $1199 for me. Base price is less but I get the same $500 discount. Unfortunately I want a gas water heater otherwise I would jump on this

I live in Washington, and got the $699 too. Plus I did a $5 off $50 purchase promo code that also worked, Order Total was $757.85. There is another $500 PUD Tax Credit if you buy a heat pump water heater, replacing a previous electric heater, but I'm switching from propane water heater to this heat pump water heater. I will still apply for that PUD tax credit and see what happens...

I have a 50 Gal Electric Water Heater and I am planning to replace it with this one.
This one needs 220V electricity but I am not sure if I have 220v or 110v to my current water heater.
Can someone let me know how I can confirm?

Burlinton, WA, 98233 works for the $699 price.

My total was $832.44 OTD after taxes, shipping, and a $5 off $50 coupon (http://pages.homedepot.com/orange worked with a throwaway email and arrived instantly)

Now let's hope it doesn't get canceled!

Open up your electrical service and look at the breaker, if it's a double breaker, then it's 220/240V.

Wow, I just realized from this post that they now make a 40 gallon hybrid. I wish it was available last year when I replaced an indoor closet water heater. I have two water heaters, one in a closet and one in a garage. My garage water heater is a hybrid and I can see the savings on my electric bill. 10/10 recommend hybrids if you don't have gas available. I save roughly $20 per month.

I own one, was basically free after rebates years ago during another deal. I have zero complaints. I leave it in "energy saver" mode 99% of the time and switch to "High Demand" when we have to take three showers in a row etc. App recently updated, works excellent. Got the wifi module for mine for like $5 on the markdown rack (I assume it's built in by now?). Installed it myself, was very easy, and had a contractor buddy sign off in order to get the rebates. As a bonus it cools my basement during the summer. It's a really nice unit and chopped my electric bill down a chunk.

For 500$ rebate you could get an old used electric, switch gas to electric, then swap out to this one. Not sure how they verify. Perhaps they look at city permits, as a water heater change or install would require a permit. As would running a new electrical line of 220v

Thanks, that worked! Hopefully it gets shipped.
Off topic on rebates: I envy everyone here who lists ridiculously high state rebates, yet here in progressive California no rebate for this model from the state or PG&E. They keep pushing everything electric but mostly with sticks, not carrots. New construction can't have gas water heaters, only electric, yet the grid can't handle heat waves and they did planned power shut offs.

Any major difference between this and the ProTerra?

Thanks!
