Additional notes:
1) Federal tax credit of $300. State tax credits vary, in my home state we get an additional $400 (bringing this heater down to $99 + $75 shipping + tax).
2) For many/most, the $75 shipping is worth it even if you can get this price locally as these heaters are quite heavy and supposedly must be transported vertically.
3) Do your homework on these hybrid heaters before purchasing. You need 220V to operate. Installation expense is generally much higher with hybrid electric vs standard electric resistance heaters and gas heaters. Hot water recovery is very slow (but you can switch to standard electric mode for rapid recovery when you know your usage will be high, e.g. having company over). They can apparently be loud, so if this will be located close to a bedroom, important to think about. There are important climate and installation location factors to consider--just google.
4) The newest generation of this series from Rheem, called "Proterra" can be had for $1269, a slight discount compared to full price (15% for my location). After carefully examining specs, photos, etc - it seems that the only difference with the Proterra series is built-in leak detection with auto-shutoff. FYI if that feature is important to you, you can add it for $219:

5) This is for 50 gallon. Looks like if you need 65 gal or 80 gal, the Proterra is actually on sale (whereas the Performance Platinum is full price), making the Proterra cheaper.

I guess I'll see what the quotes look like before I decide if I want to buy some copper pipe and either the soldering or crimping tools. One plumber I've used said crimping copper pipe was better than soldering, which I'm still skeptical of, but its holding up well at the main inlet before my PRV.
I didn't do all of my research, but looks like folks are saying I need to give this thing 700SQFT for the heat pump, so I guess I need to also cut a hole in the closet wall out to the hallway, add a vent and the ductwork. Gotta put those new dewalt XR tools to work, lol.
If you're handy with Sharkbites they make a flexible hose with valve and water heater fitting for $30/hose. Crazy expensive but very easy for DIY.
1) Add condensate line (may have to pump if you don't have a nearby drain)
2) Inlet/outlet lines are on the side of the tank. Need slight plumbing changes to reach lower inlet.
3) If you install in small room/closet, you may have to vent.
In the summer it uses 3-4 KWh a day. Right now in October the energy usage has creeped up to 5-6Kwh a day with a low outside temperature around the mid 30 F. My October report showed a usage of 111Kwh for the month.
I had two 50 gallon natural gas water which costs about $70 a month to maintain. Those were replaced with one 80 gallon electric hybrid. The best savings is my solar system produced about 1,300 KWh of electricy for the month of October and 111Kwh of that electricity is used for hot water.

If the water heater in question is a good enough deal (we are all in different situations), then it is possible to be a good idea to install a new one.
For instance, my energy cost per year is $508 (from that yellow sticker). The one listed here is $104. Assuming I use the heater the same way, my energy savings would be around $400 a year.
If the deal is still working, the listed heater is $699/$799 plus shipping and taxes. There is a $300 tax credit that ends this year. There may be others rebates/incentives from local utilities and cities.
So, let's say after after taxes and shipping the heater is $850 and installation is $200. Cost would be $1050- $300 tax credit. $750 would be the cost. Over 2 years, I would break even. Then, I would be saving money moving forward.
However, to play devils advocate, technology will improve in the future and more efficient units will be developed. Maybe when your unit finally dies, there will be another deal and a better unit that comes along.
Of course, I stress that everyone's situation is different. So this may not be a benefit for you. I am just answering how this is beneficial for me.
Where I live there are different utility companies, so some stores had rebates built-in, based on utility company and others didn't. The Energy Guide was something like $114/year, and our energy bill definitely took a huge nosedive, replacing a 15-year-old water heater that was full of sludge as the previous owner apparently never drained it. With the tax credit and rebate (made heater $699) it's a no brainer, it paid for itself in less than a year.
My water heater is in the basement, and as others said, it's about as loud as a refrigerator. Another added benefit is that we found that we didn't need to run a dehumidifier at all last summer. That saves a nice chunk of change!
If this things helps me save some on my electric bill, that would be cool too, but not required.
