I was a OnePlus user before I switched over to the Pixel. One overlooked aspect of OnePlus phones is that they are on the heavy side when it comes to smartphone weight. The new Pixel 4A 5G is the best consumer friendly phone on the market, IMO. The features you get are simply unmatched. And nothing can compare to Vanilla Android. I originally had the Pixel 3 and now I refuse to buy another smartphone that isn't a Pixel. I guess once you go Pixel, it's hard to back.

Depends on what you're dailying already. As a Note 9 owner I can't imagine upgrading phones until 5g is widely and reliably available. Otherwise any phone on the market, in my opinion, isn't currently worth the upgrade if you're rocking a phone newer than 2017.

While I own the OP5 I didn't upgrade to 5g McLain because of many reviews complaining about it overheating. Perhaps not an issue but I had the issue with many other phones in FL if you downloading a lot or tethering to laptop etc. so something to keep in mind I'd personally skip the 7/7t/7pro and McLain just to not deal with it myself. But I error more on side of caution than most.

My wife has the 4a, I've got this 7T.

Pixel wins in battery, camera, os updates, and (as we learned yesterday) having free Google photos backup next summer once Google starts charging everyone else.

Oneplus wins in speed, screen, uncertified water protection, and build quality. It's also not bad with camera and GCam.

I personally like the slightly smaller 4a size, but don't mind the oneplus. Both have VoLTE on at&t Prepaid (presumably postpaid), but only 4a has WiFi calling there. Both have both (wifi and VoLTE) on T-Mobile. I use the 7T's physical mute switch often, which is an infrequently talked about feature.

If that $200 mint mobile walmart deal comes back for an unlocked 4a, I'd just go with that. Both phones are very nice.

Which models are still free of bloatware? I heard that they started adding some apps and then later went back.

I've had OnePlus since the OnePlus One. Between my spouse and I we've also had the 2 and 3 and both have 5s now. The 5s are still working great and not sure we "need" an upgrade but we are always open to a slickdeal.

Same here. Going strong for almost 3 years now. Which is why I think my next phone is going to be a OP as well. The 8T was tempting but resisted that urge to go for it.

Also, I used the camera on a OP 7 pro and it was quite good, especially the manual mode.

I'd be tempted by this, but two things give me pause.

1. T-Mobile controls the updates, meaning they're slower than the ones directly from OP.

2. The T-Mobile version only has one SIM slot.

Neither of these may be a deal breaker for many, but they're important points to note. I personally use two SIMs regularly.
