I got one for $340 last year on BFriday with an online price match followed by a 25% off Bed Bath Beyond instore coupon. I haven't seen it lower. These typically go on sale closer to $500.
I was a former barista and even competed in the SCAA mid-atlantic barista competition several years ago. This is no $10k machine (foaming will take longer and it's less forgiving if you're not perfectly dialed in) but to get anything better you'll need to spend upwards of $700.
This is the best price you will see for the Barista Express outside of a once a year coupon mistake at Bed Bath & Beyond (which only gets it down to ~$385)
If you're waiting for a deal on this machine - this is it.
I've always seen them 500-600 and have seen them as cheap as 360ish
It's not a bad machine. I actually prefer it over my saeco super automatic
I have this and saeco. I used to prefer this machine.... Until it stopped producing pressure just as the warranty expired. They wanted something like 225 to ship it to them to fix it. I use it basically as a frother now because I can't bring myself to throw it out but I'm not paying that much to replace it.

Wow. This WAS an awesome deal. However, I didn't get the notification email about it until after 10am EST, while others apparently got it 3 hours earlier. Why is that?
Only in America do we see a $400 coffee machine and consider that a great deal. No wonder everyone is broke LOL!
I don't own one this expensive, but these things can easily last 10 years. $400 divided by 10 years divided by 365 days is 11 cents a day (plus beans). That's actually really inexpensive for something that tastes amazing. I have a machine in the $100 price range and since I only make lattes I don't feel the need for this... yet.

This machine pays for itself after less than a year of avoiding coffee shops. Also, a high-end coffee bean grinder can easily cost more than this machine itself.
Use the express everyday to make a 4 shot americano, works great. My only complaint, as with pretty much every espresso machine, is you cant fit a travel mug under there. Still have no complaints. Wish my wife wasnt so damn picky and spending $5/day at starbucks, but whatever.
Have you tried removing the drip tray during the pour? If I do that and tilt the travel mug off the counter, I can get them to fit.
