Just an FYI, this was posted yesterday on reddit:

Mint mobile agent just told me that tomorrow will be a Black Friday sale for new members of buy 3 months get 3 free... But the device you're using cannot have been active on Mint Mobile for 91 days. So even if you order a new SIM or phone number it's the device you are using that will determine if you are eligible for the sale price.

So if you are using google voice and renewing with a new number the discount might not work.

Unlimited Data: Unlimited means speeds will be reduced to a max of 128Kbps after >35GB/mo. or use of GB allotment for the remainder of the billing cycle. 1 month equals 30 days. Partial megabytes rounded up. Unlimited on handset and network only

Best Buy trial kit will work work you. Make sure you don't activate trial sim ( they have 2 sims in the kit)

Arghhhh. I just bought the 3 months plan towards the end of October.
Guys, I purchased my 3 month unlimited plan last month sometime during October and for some reason I renewed another 3 months in the beginning of November. I called customer service and asked to honor the same promotion for me, they said no! Then I said I would like to cancel my renewal that I just paid for months 4-6, they still said no. Then I said I would like to speak to a supervisor. The c/s rep spoke to the supervisor and the supervisor refunded the payment that I made for months 4-6 to honor the same promotion. So guys, who already signed up before the promotion started, call customer service and ask to speak to a supervisor to ask for a price adjustment. If you threaten to cancel or not renew, hopefully they will honor the same promo for you too. Give it a try, the worst they can say is no

Looks like you're right.

Promotion Terms and Conditions:
Limited-Time Promotional Offer

Subject to change. New activation required using an IMEI and/or phone number not previously associated with any Mint Mobile account in the prior 90 days.
what if you activate the sim via desktop on their website?

ie:
my current mint sim expired and no longer has service.
so i activate the new '3month get 3month free' sim from my work desktop.
thus no imei involved when activating

currently have metro and am considering switching. can anyone else who's had both metro and mint comment on the data speeds? Are they the same or is mint really lower tmo priority?

Metro works for me but the fee everytime I switch phones leaves a bad taste. I have 2 lines and mint would end up being cheaper. Plus the mobile hotspot for mint is appealing as metro does not have. But all this is moot if I'm compromising on data speeds.

Easy to figure it out., and with referral code your total for 3 months 8GB service plan will be around $10 or free 3GB plan.
How can you use the cash back site but all use the referral link?

How exactly would that be accomplished? The only GSM MNVO that I know for a fact makes you register your IMEI in their system (or else the swap won't work) when swapping devices is MetroPCs, and one of the theories behind this is that Metro used to run on Sprint's CDMA network, which of corse makes you provide your IMEI in order to activate a new device.

My point here is that unless Mint doesn't let you swap your SIM cards between devices you can just provide a random compatible IMEI number and later on use such SIM card on ant device you see fit

Not sure if this helps anyone out there, but I live in Los Angeles and switched from Straight Talk (ATT) to Mint (TMO). Reliable signal while home (Sherman area), but very spotty when driving.

On freeways (101, 405, 134, 210, 5), I can't reliably listen to Spotify anymore -- music definitely stalls and stops occasionally while driving... something I never encountered before with ATT towers.

Instead of going to eBay, if you search on Reddit, you can find people offering to pay you like $5 to sign up using their link, meaning you can get CB+referral credit+extra $5.

Which is better, Mint Mobile or Red Pocket?

Also, does anyone know if Red Pocket is going to have a Black Friday sale?

redpocket is a cheap way to get verizon service, tmo has a few options like mint.
