First post here! Haven't seen this deal yet but for those who have Amex credit cards earning MR points, your points are worth 25% more when redeeming online through the Amex portal. This deal is until 11/27.

I will add to the previous post by saying that even with this "discount," redeeming your MR points by shopping for items through Amex is the worst possible use of your points. Please do not do this and don't let anyone you know do this (that's how bad is). To put it more bluntly - and I don't think/hope I have any enemies, but if I did - I would not wish this redemption on my worst possible enemy just based on principle .
To give you one example and if you use a baseline value of 1 cent per MR point, even with this "discount," you'd be paying the equivalent of $379 for a set of AirPods Pro.
While still not really good, if you absolutely have to you are much better off redeeming your MR points for an Apple gift card instead and then buying your Apple product directly. Not trying to put down OP on their first post or anything, but nobody should ever use their points this way. This rule is pretty consistent across cards and rewards programs; using your points through their shopping portals is always (99.9% of the time) a terrible redemption.
What would you recommend it on then? Would you be able to make recommendations asides from travel related products?
With this deal you're getting about 200pts/$1 value. Take a look through the gift card selection and there are many where you will get 100-145pts/$1. Best Buy is at 143pts/$1 which isn't great, but still way better than what you're getting here. Staples is at 100pts/$1 which is as good as it gets for gift cards unless you happen to have a gift card promo in your account. Even, Apple gift cards are only at 117pts/$1.
You can also redeem points directly with purchases on Amazon. The conversion there is still bad at 143pts/$1 but way better than what you're getting here.

Travel blogs value MR points at $0.02/point.
Many gift cards can be redeemed for around $0.01/point.
1 cent per point is the lowest you should go when redeeming these points. Otherwise, you are getting very poor return on your points.
The best way to get close to 2 cents per point is by transferring the MR points to one of their travel partners (Delta, JetBlue, etc.). Then use those points for flights/hotel stays.
Typically the value is pretty poor when transferring to hotel chains but can work well during promotions or in a pinch. The best value is usually transferring to an airline and getting a business class flight abroad.

Totally agreed!!!
example
yeti cup.. retail 20$
Points 5998 (or 300pts per dollar)
with discount 4450 points
that is awful. just using them on GC at 100 per dollar gets you over twice as much.
