Does it make sense to pay so much more for a powerful processor but such a mediocre GPU? Will the processor alone make a difference when gaming?

I am not having a go at anyone, I genuinely want to know this.

I don't think so for gaming. I bought a Lenovo Legion 5 spec'd like this for my wife however because she is a UI/UX designer, and the software she uses utilizes GPU some and CPU heavily. For that, a strong CPU and more-than-integrated GPU is the necessary combo.

I bought this configuration of the G14 and have been using it for a couple days. It makes a lot of sense for me because I need a high power processor for work and don't play intense games. Some programs I use also utilize GPU so it's nice to have.

With GPU disabled I get 8+ hours full brightness working and watching youtube. With GPU enabled I'm playing Dirt rally 2.0 on high settings at 55-80fps. Also, the screen on this looks very nice compared to others in the price range. I haven't purchased a <$1000 laptop with better colors.

That said, I got it at $800. At $900 I might find it hard to justify over something less portable yet way more powerful.

It depends on what you will be doing with your laptop, if you do not plan on gaming with the highest settings it is a great card. This seems to be the GTX 1650 ti since it has 6GB of Vram.

Great machine for some but I returned a G14 because I need to sometimes use it as a desktop replacement, i.e. use it with lid closed to run 2 monitors. Surprise! ASUS forbids using this with the lid closed. It blocks the ventilation somehow and can possibly melt your screen.
Just thought I might save someone the bother.

I've recently bought it. Openbox for 746(before taxes), I wanted something just like this, beast of a cpu but mediocre gamer and portable. Added another 16gB of Ram and it works great.

If you do heavy simulation and coding, this cheap alternate is ideal. Far better than what others have to offer at this price range.

That laptop has terrible reviews. A lot of people that own one say that it has a garbage cooling system and the screen has like a ~66% srgb scale

Imagine paying $900 for a laptop you immediately have to open and add more RAM.

Hey all. I am really confused my birthday is coming and I want to buy a gaming laptop to play games like LoL, Overwatch, COD online along with production work which mainly uses LightRoom / Photoshop work as well.

My budget is around $2500 (of course low is better) .

I am confused between below but other suggestions are most welcome 🙏🏽

1) MSI GS66 - $1799
i7- 10750H , RTX 2070 maxQ, 16GB RAM, 1Tb SSD
(64gb ram needs to be upgrade)

2) MSI GS66 - $2499
i9 - 10980K, RTX 2070 maxQ Super, 32 GB RAM, 1Tb SSD
(May be 64gb ram)

3) Razer blade 15 base - $1999
i7- 10750H , RTX 2070 maxQ, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
(64gb ram + 1 or 2tb ssd needs to be upgrade)

4) Razer blade 15 Advanced - $2399
i7- 10875H , RTX 2070 maxQ Super, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
(64gb ram + 1 or 2tb ssd needs to be upgrade)

Get the MSI Creator 15 with 4k panel on Amazon for 2200 bucks. 10875h and 2070 Super Max-Q. It's a GS66 rebrand that has a more stealth look and 4K 100% aRGB panel instead of gaming oriented high refresh rate panel.

Razer base doesn't have SD card slot. Advanced is too expensive for what it offers.
