R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

You might port in a Cricket or ATT number so the discount is disable. Even the Tracfone number compatible with ATT is not eligible also.

Some eBay sellers says not recommended for cricket online offer. Even further some says in store port only works. How to pick right one. Is that all valid claims or just a reflection of eBay policies?

Not sure what I'm doing with so many iPhone SE purchases lately... But could probably trade it into Apple for $205 or sell it locally for around $250 I guess.
Does Apple required the cell phone to be unlocked or they don't care? It seems there is non-issue turning it in Apple store.

If i am already a cricket customer, could I just purchase ebay number, purchase $60 plan, and cancel after a month while putting my current sim into the phone on day 1? And bypass the referral stuff if i don't feel like saving another $50?
