R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.
As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.
I bought 2 already. total cost $196 for 2 phones. trade in value of SE at apple is $210

I always hate to read people asking for their hand to be held on a deal but I'm just not quite getting it if I can leverage this one for my situation.

Want to get mother-in-law a new iPhone SE for Christmas. She is on cricket and wants to stay on cricket. I don't want her or I to have to visit a cricket store or contact them to update her account. Just want to swap her SIM into the new phone(and transfer the data/etc, obv). I don't imagine it's as simple as buying a non ATT # from ebay and then signing up as a new cricket customer? Would I be on the hook for 6 months of service? I assume the answer is yes.
Yes it is as simple as buying a non ATT number just for port in purposes and sign up as a new customer. No you are not on the hook for six months with the same number. The other cricket sim card will work without any issues. I would just make sure the old Cricket sim card is compatible with SE.

Want to get in on this deal but wondering how I should move 4 lines from Metropcs to Cricket and get 4 IPhone SE for $50 each on there 4lines or more plan.
place two orders with two lines each (may need two credit cards and two emails), so you have two accounts. After that, ask them to merge the two accounts so you get four lines in one account

I just called a local Cricket Store and asked if they accept FreedomPop.

The rep said, "We can try it!"

So then I asked, if porting from Freedompop work, how long do I have to wait to replace my FreedomPop phone number with my ATT phone number and the rep said "You won't get the discount."

Does anyone here have experience working around this situation? I've had my ATT phone number for 12 years and hate to give it up.
I wouldn't take any chances with the phone number I have had for 12 years.

I would've jumped on any one of those deals if the screen wasn't a tad too small for today's phones.

Unlimited Cricket More $60.00

Line 2: $79.99
Apple iPhone SE $249.99
Bring Your Number Discount -$200.00
Unlimited Cricket More $60.00
Group Save Discount -$30.00

Shipping Free
Subtotal $189.98
Sales Tax $10.00

yes ordering 2 lines at same time gives you a $30 discount but beware that in the past when I've ordered 2, Cricket either sends email wanting more info on 2nd line..or you don't get that email and your order hangs.

Can anyone pls link me to ebay seller which worked. Many of them say it does not work for cricket online.
As long as you receive the referral code before activating your new phone, you are fine. It means you don't have to activate it until a code is received.

Last time, Cricket activated the plan before the phone was delivered. So it is better to get the referral code before ordering or right after ordering, the code will be valid for 30 days. The code will not work if it is generated after the plan is activated by your or Cricket

As some have mentioned, many ebay sellers warn against porting to cricket.com. Anyone have recent success?

Recently got the Pixel 4a deal that came with 3 month mint mobile starter pack. Didn't need to use mint but if I activate it, can I use that to port into cricket? I'm already a cricket customer, so would need to do it under a different account.

Has anyone actually unlocked a Cricket phone?

> The device you want to unlock has been active for at least six months of paid service on that device.

Does this mean you would actually have to pay for the 7th month or could you unlock it during the 6th month and then port out?
I did. I didn't pay the 7th month. They actually let me unlock about 2-4 days before the 180th mark. I guess it might depend on the bill cycle ?

Just received shipping confirmation on my 2 SE's from this deal. Thanks op! Wish they had the same trade in value to T-Mobile as the 8's do.

Instant after you sign up for service. You'll get a phone number, pin to access port out info. But you'll need to have a Sprint SIM card in hand and a phone that's compatible with Sprint service.
Do I actually need to activate the Tello service?
