R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

I did it once in 2018, when my bank offered Chase credit card cashback, making it almost free. I never activated the phone/never actually ported the number to cricket but you don't get the purchase cost of phone/plan back, so like $50(phone)+$60(plan)+ taxes won't be returned to you even if you don't activate the phone.

I bought a number off ebay. Enter in the numbers and the order went through. Then I see i got this email AFTER they shipped the phone. My question is, What if the port doesn't go through, will they charge my credit card the extra $200 dollars? The phone arrived yesterday. I'm an existing customer just trying to get a phone upgrade for my son. TIA
