R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Your unlock code is not available. Please call Customer Care at 1-800-274-2538 for assistance.

Means, I can use it with any service provider? I am not on t-mobile and currently using RedPocket.
If you are not currently on T-Mobile, how can you combine with T-Mobile offer?? Are you opening new line with T-Mobile?? What I meant was, if you buy iPhone 12 from Apple store with T-Mobile carrier (to make use of 150 credit) that phones comes unlocked and you can use it on any sim.. but I am not sure if T-Mobile will look for sim to be active on the phone to give 150 card..

Yes, you don't even need to activate service if you don't want to.. But just do it to be safe to meet the terms and condition. If you want to be generous to others, consider using someone's referral and downgrade your service from $60 to $30/mo (60 days) so the other person can get the $25 referral credit for future renewals even though you don't plan on using Cricket.
Yes great tip!
It helps out those of us who use Cricket long term and have referrals to give 😉

I seem to be having different experience from others. I have never put the sim in the new iPhone. They shipped to Phobio yesterday FedEx. So the phones were never activated only the account and phone lines were activated using the sim in an old unlocked iPhone my line say 176 days and the phone description is "BYOD PHONE".
Same for me.

Asking again if someone has tried, I read sprint SIM cards can be used to buy tello line. Can we use total wireless SIM card which is also a cdma sim? Appreciate any suggestions here.

Does it show your actual phone that you are using?

Bought number from ebay and placed my order. This is confirmation email says - "Thank you for ordering wireless service from Cricket. We're working with your current wireless carrier to bring your number(s) to Cricket. We'll email you as soon as we have a status update.

We must confirm your number transfer within three days of ordering or your order will be canceled. "

Is this normal?

I assume IMEI is linked to the phone that is being used on Cricket? not IMEI of SE?

Which phone did you use with Sim card?
