My delivery experience was bad.
Original date of 11/17...no info provided so called on night of 11/16...they couldnt provide an update told me to google sony help.
Received a message later that delivery was delayed until 11/19 - finally received tracking info.
Tracked package and it showed it arrived at warehouse 10min from my house morning of 11/17.
Called and ask if they could move delivery up to 11/18 and they did...
On 11/18 - no phone call, no info...have to call them again.
I'm told the TV is in another state and the earliest they can get it to me is 11/21. 😏😏😏
Anyway....I'm liking the TV so far...still want to tweak the picture settings (anybody have recommendations?) but setup and UI is easy and sleek.
Even though this comes with a 5 year warranty they tried to pitch the SquareTrade/Allstate warranty, saying that the repair guys will come to you to fix the tv vs going through Sony and having to ship the TV or bring it into a repair center. It's 64.00 its basically double protect yourself with Sony and Allstate, I think on 1K tv, what's another 64.00 for a piece of mind? Now $300.00 for a warranty that would be different. Thoughts?
Thanks!
together with a dated purchase receipt in order to obtain warranty service".
In the Allstate Warranty Card I got from Costco to take home to review, it says "For all Tv's with a manufacture's warranty of longer than 2 years, Allstate protection plan provides coverage through the end of the 5th year from the date of purchase and run concurrently with the manufacture's warranty".
So I guess its just a matter of paying the 64.00 to cover something outside of Sony's Warranty and to have somebody come to your home to repair it vs taking it a shop. But due to Covid are they really going to come to your house? At least right now.
Can anybody chime in and let us know if there is any point in the SquareTrade Warranty.
My best guess is for Sony there is no point in the Allstate plan. They boosted it to 5 years to cover the competitors at Costco that are tossing in the Squaretrade warranty to make it 5 years. (Samsung for example)

It is supposed to get variable refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 support, which would be good for the PS5. As I understand it, it's one of the few TVs with VRR and 2.1, which is rare, and I think very rare at the price point. Even Sony's next model up, the X950h, does not have VRR and 2.1. Also the TV has low input lag. So, yes, it's good for gaming.
As far as picture quality, it's well reviewed, just check out rtings etc. Yes, there's better (e.g. the X950h, higher tier samsungs, and OLED ), but you would typically pay more for it. It's a good gaming TV.
