Note, a new Fi customer is somebody who is new to Google Fi on either a new plan or a new member as a part of an existing group plan.

TO qualify for the $500 discount:
  • Activate the Samsung Note20 on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and remain active on Google Fi for 90 consecutive days.
  • You must also bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email. Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible.
  • If you choose to get a new number, you will not receive the $500 discount.

Imo, it's better to open a new account and get the deal. Folks in the pixel 4a 5g thread have posted that the promo got cancelled for existing customers.

That person inserted the Fi SIM into another device, so he got disqualified for the deal.

It's not worth it - to trade-in 3xl. It's a great phone and the trade-in discount is not much (don't remember the exact amount). Get a used iphone or samsung from swappa, open a new fi account and do the trade-in.
