You might want to check the TP Link site if mesh network is of interest because not all of their routers support it yet.

But neither one of these will replace a modem. Typically consumer routers (that is, those not supplied by an ISP) do not include a modem, and you need to get that separately. You should check your cable company's list of recommended modems and buy one of those. This way, if there's a problem, they can't say "we don't support that model".
