The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

Even if the rate is free, they charge taxes and fees on the free line so your bill goes up.
Not if you are on an all-in plan.

The last time they had the get a free line promo a couple of months ago, I added it to my 55+ plan. Totally free.

great thanks for the info! what if i have a SIM card from a previous phone? can they assign a new # at no cost?
I couldn't figure out a way to use my own SIM card with an online order so I just paid the $10 bucks last time. But the time before that, I did this over the phone and was able to use my own SIM card (avoiding the $10 fee) plus the nice rep waived the $20 assist fee (ymmv with that).

You will get a new phone # assigned and there's no cost for that.

yeah, I also have the same SOC code. I will still call them to see if I qualify
I got the text last time - on FRLTUL2LP and they were able to add the free line.

Granted it, it was my first free line.

FRLTUL2LP : With this SOC code you cannot have more than 3 lines. If you need the 4th line free or new they will push you to Magenta One plan.

Voice line only, no data?
Quote from litobirdy :
Why is the voice lines so highlighted. Does that mean no data?
Voice line is a normal talk/text/data line. This is contrasted with a tablet line or a wearable (watch) line.

So I have FRLTUL2LP which is basically 2 lines all in for $100 with the 20% insider discount that makes it $80. I added my girlfriend so now I have 3 lines for $120 after discount. Should I stay on it and keep missing out on these deals or change it?
Same boat but my third line is free. It's kind of painful to constantly miss out on deals but then I remind myself of the pile of cash I'm saving every month. If I were paying $40 for that third line, I might think differently.

I'm paying for 3 lines and have 1 free. Can I remove one line and re-add it to get pay 2 lines with free 2 lines?

Magenta First Responder, so not eligible.

SD effect - don't need another line, but feeling great sadness not to get one for free.
