The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

So here's what I am thinking of doing:

1) Unlock my GV number (-$3)
2) BYOD @ Costco (+$200) using an old iPhone 5s that we use as a backup
3) Port-in rebate (+$100)

Net benefit of $297.

Do I need to do this in any special order (ie. first #2 and then #3; or vice versa)?

I will be doing the same tomorrow. I just bought my Google Voice # for $3 and setup a VM PIN. The account number is the GV phone# and PIN is the VM PIN. This is needed for Porting over. I called Tmobile and they said I was eligible for a free line tomorrow (Magenta Plus). Also no taxes for me so this is a steal if I can stack the $100+$200
