You were right. It shows as "2020 Line on Us 3" now. Thank you!

Data point - account updated itself after several hours and is now showing 2020 Line on Us 3. I guess we just need to be patient.

Also was able to add One Plus Promo to free line. This was a challenge. Lots of rep hopping until I found someone who was willing to add it
how many hours did it take for update?

A little over 6 hours. Before, my plan was showing as being increased and other issues popped up. Then about 10 minutes ago, I checked and everything corrected itself.

On a desktop/laptop browser, go to the account section, then for me I click magenta and I can see the autopay discount with the free line discount

Thanks OP. Free line worked for me. One item to note, on older legacy plans (like mine which is 13+ years old) they do charge a few dollars per month for taxes and fees. It comes out to $3.18 per month for me for the "free" line. A no brainer for an extra line for my daughter. Just my two cents...

Happy Turkey Day fellow SDers!

Don't know exactly what that means, but thanks. I will find out!

Never mind, I see the link. So I just go to Costco, add a line (and presumably buy a phone)? Anything I need to ensure that the line I'm adding is free, or just do the transaction and hope for the best?

And now I see that it's BYOD. So I just show up at Costco with an existing phone, which I have...walk out with a free line and a $200 Costco card. Just seems silly, but I'm all over it.
Did this work at Costco?

just get a different rep, thast how i did it
Reps and managers now are lying through their teeth this year! They find every excuse to recycle relevant or not to deny you and it is not even factual. A lot of these reps we have experienced dont even fully read their promos specs in details and just assume things like past years promos which may not even apply to newer promos.

It used to not be this bad but after June - now esp. after merger...it is bad and getting worse. Ask details about certain promos for your plans and you are likely to get 5 diff. answers to the same Q asked 8 times. They even say for you to switch plans,, rates plans, services and pay more even when next reps say there were no need to... Even much worse in commission driven stores...Constant lies...we need you to sign up for magenta plus or premium this/ that if you are upgrading a line/phone/watch/tablet. It is a waste of time to have to try on 3-4-5 reps until someone can fix errors or do things right. The kicker is they are trained to say we have done the best job and care for you and appreciate your business and so wonderful to help resolve all of your concerns and questions and notated it all on record and leaving you happy and satisfied with all the work we did for you today...big BS. They did nothing, researched little to nothing off your accounts, fixed nothing, credited nothing, to put these trained lines in writing or on phone for show or disputes later...frequently making mistakes customer window hopping and read every 3rd msg you send them. Getting onto their game now that Tmo is getting bigger and less uncarrier like.

How do I add the free line and get the Pixel 4a 5G for 50% off on T-Mobile's website?

Do I add the line first and then purchase the Pixel? Or is it the other way around?

I don't have to input a promo code or anything?

Yes, you can't cancel a paid line until 12 months AFTER the LAST free line is added.
What happens if I cancel ? I got the free line because I have 2 lines on my magenta .. how does it matter to the paid line?
