I found this out somewhere else, but make sure you turn off recurring billing BEFORE you redeem the code. When you redeem the code, you will get an offer for a free month when you turn recurring billing back on. It turns a 3-month card into a 4-month card.
Interesting because I was looking to do this and everything I am finding says the 12 month cards are redeeming for 4 months of GPU. I didn't find anything on the Costco 24 month deal but I assumed that was two 12 month cards and would redeem for 8 months of GPU.
The conversion you mentioned it for existing GPU subscribers. If you don't currently have GPU, you can stack Xbox Live Gold then sub to GPU at a 1:1 conversation rate.
If you already have GPU, $20 for 3 months code is really good.

Can someone help explain this terminology to me? I did the crazy conversation, like many here, last year. Got 24 months Xbox Live and applied the GPU for $1
Now it says my next charge is 8/21/2021 for $14.99. So if I apply one of these it'll extend the period till 11/21/2021?
Should I do that now or wait for it to expire, get another 12/24 month Xbox Live and apply the GPU? It doesn't still work right? Or do you wait for it to expire? Otherwise it gets converted on a silly ratio system. What's the best move for my buck and longevity ?
Since people keep asking the same questions over and over in these deal threads for Game Pass UItimate, it would be really helpful if the mods copy & paste the info in this old thread.
ShopTo is an international seller. If you don't have a credit card that waives international fees, you're probably looking at ~3% extra which isn't a lot but it's worth pointing out (especially if you DO have such a credit card).
I just bought a two year Xbox Live Gold gift card from Costco ($95) and added it to my Microsoft account. Then bought the $1 Game Pass Unlimited and I then had GPU until December 2022. This is the cheapest way to do it, just $3.84 a month.
I already have GPU on my account (expiring in Jan, 2021). Can I buy the Xbox Gold GC and convert to GPU for my wife's account? We mostly need it for kids who are added as child profile on the account.

That's weird. No tax for me, at least via the website. I haven't looked via the app.
Not a lawyer, but most likely if your digital games are taxed, these will be as well.
