These are non-4k and do not come with a remote. The new Google chromecast TV is best option at $50

Depends. This can only do 1080p and doesn't have a remote with user interface. You'd need another device (i.e. smartphone or computer) to control your media. I would not get this personally because the 4K Firestick and 4K capable Roku stick are roughly only $10 more and offer better performance. The main benefit of this vs those two options is the option to stream videos from a Chrome browser to your TV, which is nice for when you're streaming something online on your computer but want to watch it on your TV without having to deal with cables. If that's something you really want then this is a cool device for that, but if you're patient, I'd suggest waiting to see if the Chromecast with Google TV goes on sale. It can stream 4K and comes with a remote and Android OS, so you can download a lot of different apps.

i still have the first gen chromecast and it gives me alot of random issues with connecting, it literally stops working for no reason some days. im not sure if this problem is the same in the third gen or not

Still have my first gen running strong, when needed. I actually have it setup in my Honda Odyssey.

You pretty much can add anything since it's Android OS, but a lot of things aren't compatible/remote-friendly yet right now so you still have to experiment a bit. I have a Roku Ultra that works great. Only reason I'd get this is to be able to watch videos and photos on my TV from Google Photos app...unless someone knows of an app on Roku that does it??
