This is NOT made by Sharp of Japan. This is a rebranded Chinese TV that is using Sharp's brand name as a licensing deal.
It's not really correct. Foxconn acquired Sharp in 2016 and Foxconn is a Taiwan company, not China, two different countries. Sharp TV may mainly made in China but once Wisconsin panel factory starts to run smoothly, it has the chance panel will be from the states.
True except Foxconn won't be building that plant in WI. The deal has collapsed and WI got Fox "Conned' big time.

I must have the worst luck with TVs. My 42 plasma Phillips went out just past the 3 yr warranty. And my Vizio p502UI 4k lasted just little over 3 year.
I'm now scared to spend too much on tv, if this sharp last 3 yr I'll be happy. I already ordered m65q8, trying to decide which one to keep.
Man that's wild. Wonder if you have a power issue like bad house service or voltage brownouts?
I don't pay a lot for TVs either. My sharp was a target thanksgiving week deal for about 500 back then I think.
The vizios were Walmart clearance finds. I think I have $130 in each 50 about $250-280 in the 65.
The Samsung 42 4K smart was a Walmart clearance I found when my toddler son accidentally knocked a 32 off and broke it. Got it for $150 but I went searching planning to pay $200 but it rang up less.
Wh3n they die I'll go find another deal.
My father has a sharp 70 smart tv from 2015 and about 4 months ago a line appeared horizontally across about 6" from the bottom. He is s5ill watching it currently because he refuses to go shopping anywhere due to covid and doesn't want anyone delivering a tv to his house either. Maybe he has one of the his3nse models, I'm not sure when that agreement started.
Bought this and is working nicely; not expecting great quality sound from downward facing speakers hence added a sound bar; even if it works for 2 years I am fine; at least saved me couple of thousand dollars

China would disagree with that comment. Foxconn will never produce anything in Wisconsin.
Try telling China they are 2 different countries....
The CCP will have you extinguished.... But technically, Taiwan wants no part of Chinese Communism.... I take it your rooting for Xi Jinping and the US becoming his sweatshop?
"In June 2017, Sharp sued its Chinese licensee Hisense for damaging the reputation of its brand, seeking an exit from its licensing agreement. Sharp accused the company of producing "shoddily manufactured" televisions under the Sharp name, including products they believed were in violation of U.S. safety standards for electromagnetic radiation, and the subject of deceptive advertising over their quality. Hisense denied that it engaged in these practices, and stated that it planned to defend itself in court and "will continue to manufacture and sell quality televisions under the Sharp licensed brands."[39][40] In February 2018, Sharp dropped the lawsuit against Hisense.[41] In 2019 Sharp re-acquired its own brand for use on TV's in the US market."
"Malaysia : Sharp has an export-only Television factory at the HICOM Industrial Park in Shah Alam, Selangor. This plant manufactures television sets for export only to North America. "
How does this compare to 75" TCL 4k series for $499.
I'd take this is a heartbeat.... This is again Japanese run and made in Malaysia..... Where they've been making American tech long before the Chinese free trade agreement.
Foxcon has no plans to make lcd panels in Wisconsin. That was merely a ploy to bank billion dollar tax concessions.
Could you be any dumber on the topic? First, they get nothing until certain quotas are met.... As of today they have received ZERO tax benefit from the state of Wisconsin.
I don't get why "Made in China" still has such a negative connotation in 2020. It is meaningless where something is made. 90% of the world's products are made in China, and just like anywhere on the planet, sometimes you get bad quality stuff and sometimes you have good quality stuff. Nobody ever questions the quality of iPhones, yet where are they made?
Because Apple runs the show and their workers are better taken care of.... Like Nike.... Bad press wouldn't help them. 100% Chinese owned is shady at best, illegal most likely at least by US standards.... no to mention the shoddy quality.
Ended up ordering one for delivery on Saturday to replace the Element 70" I got last weekend which only laster 3 days. Hoping for more life out of this one...

Use a "good" surge "protector" for sure if you are not using one currently.
There is no business to make them anymore when you have CHINA (Trumps voice) making everything cheap cheap. Higher model Panasonic Plasmas (RIP) were made in Japan
Higher end Sonys like my 65 inch from a few years ago were. Don't know about today.
This is 2020 version of sharp aquos are being produce by tawain foxcom since they took over the rights from hisense. It look like they are trying to bring back aquos quality tv back.
Those that are complaining name me a tv manufacture in the usa that are in the usa. The last company was zenith and it was bought by Lg.
