We bought a new car last month so I've been watching for deals here and haven't seen this posted. Yesterday I received an email from Sirius with this Black Friday offer:
$5/month for 12 months, billed upfront, plus fees, etc. I paid $72.84 total for 12 months added onto my trial that expires in January.
1 free Echo Dot. I received email with link to the third generation Dot and code which included brought it to $0 shipped.
Email says free upgrade to their best plan. I'm a newbie with Sirius and don't know what differences there are between plans.
I had earlier in the day subscribed at a higher cost but called back and got that reversed. They won't refund my credit card payment but said it will stay on my account as a credit. Not particularly happy about that, but it's okay. I'm more irritated by the fact that when I called earlier in the day I had specifically asked if there were any Black Friday offers and she gave me a "deal" at $10/mo, with no free Dot.
Although not mentioned in the email, I was told by representative that there would be a $50 charge if I cancelled in the first six months.
For existing XM customers that want discounted prices without loss of service, try this. It wont get you the extras--Amazon Echo Dot or free upgrade to All Access, but it should get you discounted prices on the Select or All Access plans.
I have been a customer for a few years, and of course my initial discount had ran out but my wife loves the radio so we kept it at full price.
I HATE paying full price.
I finally figured someone on Slickdeals may have figured out a way to keep getting discounted prices without loss of service. They did. Please be kind and give kwadguy his well deserved rep for his service in saving us all 75ish% off the regular price by going to this link
Per the directions, sign into your account at http://www.siriusxm.com/ and on the tab Subscriptions, you will see a green lined drop box, select "I want to cancel".
It will offer 2 options: 1. See new offers or cancel. 2. Change your subscription.
Pick #1. Then you can pick a reason why you want to cancel. The first time I picked something, the options it gave me was to downgrade my service to one of two full priced peon subscriptions.
Full priced lesser plan? Nah...I went back to previous page and logged out. Logged in, cancel option, different reason, and got the same options. So I tried again.
Third and fourth reasons got me a slightly better offer, but nothing as good as the $5/month for SiriusXM Select. Then I tried the fifth time...JACKPOT.
12 months of Select for $5/month plus fees/taxes.
12 months of All Access for $8.**/month (dont remember the cents) plus fees/taxes.
I stayed with Select for 12 months (if you love Nascar/NFL play-by-play or more Howard Stern, All Access might be for you). Then it gave me 3 options for that plan (plus fees/taxes on all 3).
12 months for $60 up front.
12 months at $4.99/month.
6 months for $29.94 up front.
Being a longtime slickdeal lurker I recognized that by picking a monthly payment, I am saving 12 WHOLE CENTS by picking $4.99/month...so I did.
My monthly payment had just been taken out after midnight a few hours ago, so it credited my account for service unused, and then applied $6 towards my new monthly payment. I now have $14+ credit that will pay for the next 2 months with a little left over.
And thats my 12 cents on how to take advantage of this great price they are offering new subscribers (minus the Dot and the free upgrade).
If you feel cheated out of an Echo Dot, with your new 12-month savings you can afford to buy your own Amazon Echo Dot 3rd generation ($19 Black Friday price) and still have Scrooge McDuck money left over.
It seems easier to call than trying to go through all of the steps of trying to cancel online. I had no issues with the call center except the obvious one - I asked what the best offer was in my first call and she gave me a "deal" at $10/month. After I found I had an email offering it at $5/month plus a free Echo Dot, I called and the rep made the switch very easy. He asked me what deal I saw and I told him and he preceding to change my account. No big deal.
Some people obviously don't like SiriusXM. My wife and I bought a nice new car and it came with the trial and we took a week-long vacation and drove a bit over 2,000 miles, taking in some hiking, etc. and the SiriusXM came in very handy. We liked it and decided it was worth keeping. I know of others who are subscribers and also like it. If you don't like it, no price will be a good deal for you.
This deal is listed on the SiriusXM home page (it's at the very top of the page, at least for me). The site says that this special offer is available until December 6, but maybe they'll extend it. I just bought an SXV300 tuner to try out SiriusXM in my car.
Just chatted with Sirius/XM customer service and was offered the same $4.99/month plus fees for one year and a free Echo dot for 1 year. I said I already had an echo dot and asked for the price without it. They offered the amazing deal of $4.99 a month plus fees! ha. I said The pricing wasn't good enough for me to renew today since I am working from home and don't need radio since no commute.
Then I was offered 3 months free trial to continue deciding for a $2 fee. so I did that!
12 months Select - 72.44 with taxes and fees. Less that 10 mins on the live chat:

Vince: There's no lock in, and we'll make sure we send you a renewal notification a month in advance this time.

Beware that people on here posting about their Sirius "deals" are almost never getting the plans that carry Howard Stern. I just finished going around with customer service and the best I could get was Platinum plan at $8.25 for 6 months; I ended up cancelling.
The strategy above with clicking through the cancelling process and logging out multiple times in order to get a better offer never worked after about a dozen tries. I just kept getting the same offers for $17.99/month and $12.99/month.

Happy Black Friday!!!
Between all the other audio options and their crappy screw the customer attitude, I'm amazed they're still in business.
