Do I need to have Windows 7/8 installed first and then install Windows 10 as an upgrade, or can I just install a clean Windows 10 and then use the old key?
A note for anyone who thinks they're ok with their current Windows 10 or doing an upgrade from free—that free upgrade gets locked to your hardware as I just found out when I swapped out my motherboard and was no longer "activated". The retail code from this deal is transferable

Now please enlighten me as to why PCworld would risk their reputation by providing a gateway for a fly by night actor selling illegitimate keys? They have been doing this for quite a while now. I stumbled across this offer almost a year ago. Do you think Microsoft would allow this to happen for long? The keys are legit. They have just been purchased in bulk, so they can then be resold for such a low price.

Cleverbridge sounded familiar so I searched my legacy email boxes.. Turns out, I've used them maybe half a dozen times from 2008 onwards. Lots of different software companies have chosen them for distribution of their software. Whether these particular keys are legit or not, I cannot say, but Cleverbridge itself does not seem shady in the least. I hope that helps.
Lol I can't believe you people are falling for this. It's just the same OEM codes you can get for $3 on ebay. At that point you might as well use HWID to activate it for free. Microsoft isn't seeing a penny of the money either way.
Does anyone know if there is an issue of buying a license today but not using or activating it for a few months... won't be building new for a bit (... If only the Ryzen 5 5600 would be available in a "few" months).

I'd advise spending the extra $10 for the pro version. I love the ability to remote-desktop into a machine. You also have the ability to use bitlocker to protect sensitive documents, which I highly advise. I personally don't use bitlocker, but VeraCrypt instead. If it were more than $10 difference I'd say weigh the pros and cons, but for $10 it's well worth it.
