I like Planet Fitness and was a member for years prior to covid, but our local gyms are closed and I wouldn't go anyway until folks are vaccinated and we're past this pandemic. Kind of a sad deal.

You've probably never run on a treadmill before. Probably never seen the inside of a gym for that matter. Bet you only recognize the inside of a McDonalds

I don't even wear a mask at my gym. Just walk in do my workout and walk out. 90% of the people I see at the gym don't wear masks, and yes my state does have mandatory masks inside businesses.
That's rather infuriating - 280,000 Americans dead so far - racking up another 2000 a day and you're bragging that you don't wear a mask and 90% of your gym members don't too? Do you all hate your fellow citizens or are you that ignorant?

Here in Kentucky, gyms are open, but masks are now required, as well as having to sanitize your equipment after use. Fair enough, though I'm sure some macho dudes are butthurt about it. Like others have said, we won't be seeing a vaccine for the general public probably until like March-April, so keep that in mind with your gym memberships. Also, PF is basically a mega gym, meaning you actually have to wait in line to use your equipment and such.

Unrelated to PF, 24HF no longer accepts Costco certificates and are telling you to return your certificates for a refund.

I googled "24 hour fitness costco membership"

Because any gym I've been to, you don't have a line of people waiting. You have one dude at most and then it's your machine. Your $10 a month comes at a price.

Price is closer to 150 per year than $99, cause they never mention that they will charge you a bullshit maitenance fee.

Like I said our club does not accept anything other than a direct bank account link. I have edited because apparently, YMMV, as someone said they are mostly franchises. Is yours corporate or just some franchisee who accepts those methods?
I just for kicks went on their site, but our club isn't participating in your deal at all. AND they require your bank info for any plan.
I don't know if mine is corporate or franchise. This deal would not be on the website, it's only for people who have done this deal before and their "friends" (read:fellow slickdeals users). It should go without saying, but paying with cash is in the club only, do NOT try feeding $20s into your CD or SD slot. Just re-upped sunday. Showed them the email. Paid cash. No problems.

With this deal there is no fee. And if you pay with cash or a prepaid or virtual card, with only $99 on it, there is no way they can charge you any fees by accident.

You are lucky to have a fair club in that respect.
It should be enough that they make money based on the number of folks who pay for upgrades, and those who go only now and then. I wish they all were like yours.

Much harder to get your money back after they take it, or simply refuse to stop taking it, and give you some double-talk about their policies different than their promises. I know it is our job to read contracts, but when they blatantly lie to you upfront, it is a scam. Maybe use a secondary account that you can easily do without and close when you quit. I wouldn't be shocked if they put your account into collections though. I am the one who would take them to court, but many are just going to take their final lumps to get out.

Folks, if you cannot use cash or prepaid/debit/credit cards like this person does, you have been warned. My experience is not a one-off.

Good luck to you. I think sharing my experience is valid, and warning others is not being dramatic. I only bolded the last sentence so it was not taken as a direct reply to the one I am having the discussion with. Go judge someone else.
