The deal can be triggered when purchasing a gift card.

Do NOT use Paypal or anything other than the "Credit Card" option during checkout folks. Using any other form of checkout even funding it via the same credit card is not the same. Make sure you use the same credit card that you enrolled on your Gpay account too.

I didn't need anything but first/last name, street address & last 4 of SSN. Wife needed everything you just listed. She's currently waiting 48 hours for everything to be processed to confirm her account. I'm hopeful that once her account is confirmed she'll also get the $21 cash back from Target since we already bought the $50 gift card with her account.

Both accounts are WELL established so my only guess to the red flag is that we're both using the same street & IP address. I'm sure there's many red flags that trigger the extra steps.
Wow I'm always amazed of the kind of personal information people are willing to give for a measley $21. Do you really trust google to be able to keep all of your information secure? One of these days you'll experience identity theft and you'll look back and think all of this major hassle for $21 lol. If they asked for passport, last two tax returns, pay stubs, and bank account information you'd probably give it all too!!

My friend used a referral link to sign up, and then referred me. He sent me $10 and that got him the referral bonus. I sent him $10 and it didn't trigger the bonus. Not sure why, I still see the "send $10 to get $21" promotional banner and don't have the "You earned a reward" like it shows for him when he sent me $10. First time sending him money, but I assume him first sending me money had something to do with it?

Anyways, if anyone wants to let me send you $10 to see if that triggers the referral bonus, you only have to send me back $5. nod
Sending it to him shouldn't matter

If you paid $10 with debit then it should be instant -- if you did $10 bank account then it might take a few days to process

Open GPay app
Click on your name icon (top right)
Click on 3dots (top right)
Click on Referral Code -- it should show your friend's code there if its properly attached

Some people have had the app glitch -- try restarting the app (or your phone) then check the app again to see if it shows redeemed

I did in store pick up and got credit.
Thanks! I'm assuming the process is the same except you opt for pick-up at checkout, correct? Also, did you get confirmation of reward as soon as you placed the order or until after you picked the item up?

Thanks for that! I have a huge blue banner that says "Get your $21 referral bonus. Pay a friend $10 or more to claim." when I log into Gpay. But then when I go to the page you mentioned, it says "Your account is not eligible for referral from friends."

Now sure why I'm not eligible, but kind of messed up they still show me the banner to go ahead with the promo.

After linking to my debit card, do I need to first add money to my Google pay balance and then send payment to my referral friend?
Thanks, never use this before and the steps are annoying with fees.

the only outlier is the last 4 SSN...everything else you give to merchants every time they process your credit card transaction...and, face it, a major credit bureau has been hacked, they know your first pet's name already...might as well make $42 off of GOOG (like I'll ever use Google Pay without this kind of payout)

no, you make the payment to your "friend" as normal and just provide your debit card as payment method

I just went to offer in the app and clicked the link taking me to targets website. Checked out using the card I linked with the app.

Worked for me with a gift card (Lowes, if it matters). About 3 minutes after purchase, notification from GPay re reward. I checked out online at Target.com using the card that was active for the reward.

You don't find the contact or pay option is not there? You might need to verify identity for pay option to work
Identity not verified. I also need to send $10 and receive it back..
