If you bought 3x Xbox Live (XBL) Gold cards, make sure you do not enable recurring billing when redeeming each card because it will add a month each to your XBL service time. The system limits you to 36 months total.

For example, redeeming 2x XBL Gold cards /w recurring billing gives you 26 months. The system will not allow you to redeem the 3rd XBL Gold card.

YMMV, but a Microsoft (MS) rep was able to get around this limitation. Here are the steps he took:
- I converted my 26 month XBL Gold into 26 months of Gamers' Pass Unlimited (GPU).
- Since I already have GPU, it converts the 3rd 12 month XBL Gold card into 4 months of GPU, for a total of 30 months of GPU.
- The MS rep then manually adjusted my GPU subscription from 30 months to 36 months.

Need help please. I currently subbed to GPU and my recurring billing says June/2021 I'm assuming because I still had a few months worth of Xbox live. I have not used the $1 promo and it was my understanding that if I cancel my current GPU sub I can get this deal. Is that correct? When I cancel my current GPU subscription I get this message:
We can't cancel your subscription
You've already paid for your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It will expire automatically on 5/31/2021.

Yes, you should get the full 3 months if you have 33 months or less when you convert. I redeemed 2 gold cards and reoccurring was turned on after I converted to ultimate (it was turned off when I redeemed my gold cards). To be honest I have no idea why I got the 2 months on top of 36 months of gold I bought, since I thought 36 was the cap. My expiration date was 12/19/2023 after I redeemed my gold cards and then 2/19/2024 after I converted to ultimate. I was confused as well, but will not complain. No idea if this is happening to others and is reproducible or not.

If you add gold to your account, then buy a month of ultimate after you add the gold, then it might work. Might be better to just wait for your trial to expire, then try the deal. Maybe someone else has more insight than I do on this.

Alright guys, here's the actual slickest deal: 37 months for $135 ($3.65/month). I just did it and it worked. I've never had Gamepass before (no trial or anything).
  1. Buy 2x 12-month XBL cards from Newegg via this deal [newegg.com] ($59.99-$10 coupon). Make sure to buy these on the same transaction because you can only use the promo code once!
  2. In a separate transaction, buy2x 3-month Gamepass PC cards from Newegg [newegg.com] ($19.99-$3 coupon). Make sure to buy these in the same transaction because you can only use the promo code once!
  3. Redeem each GC to your Microsoft account. You can get 1 free month for each code if you turn on auto-renew. Make sure you do this! Then turn off auto-renew before inputting the next code.
  4. Once everything is added to your Microsoft account, you should have 34 months of total time (26 months of XBL and 8 months of Gamepass PC).
  5. Now sign up for the 3-month Gamepass Ultimate deal for $1. Once you do this, all of your XBL and Gamepass PC time from the cards you purchased will be converted to GPU. Because this deal is technically buy 1 month, get 2 months free, your purchased month is added to your account, bringing you up to 35 months total, and your 2 free months are added after the conversion (getting the total up to 37 months).

Ok I bought 2 years of gold as I had time left added it as it says, created a new family member on the Xbox. Used the link to sign up for Ultimate under the new family member, which shows game pass ultimate for three months, switch to my account and it just shows the 30 months of gold, what did I do wrong?
